Welcome back, I eagerly look forward to the continued progression of this game - and ofc the stable release :^)

Happy 2015, nice news post too, all of the things mentioned are valid gripes. I hope the next implementation of hunger and temperature will be better then, with more effects, and perhaps also a possibility that you could get too warm? Could give a good reason to not always wear warm clothes.

I totally agree with your opinion 100% few exploration games are rarely this accurate, it would be sad to see it go. :(

It has a lot of features that where great for miners.
plus we need more uses for the Core Fragment Ore - Would love to see it as a fuel source for some planet items (i.e. Ore Magnate, Mining Mech *10x10 mining box etc.)

Hey C-Fish! I hope you guys had a great vacation and stuff, and I must say I've been playing the nightly after it was update with the winter update changes and WOW is it a huge improvement overall!! Even though a lot of people say this, you guys don't get enough praise anyways for your hard work and stuff so thank you all!

I also have a bit of feedback, though, at least from my experience over the past couple days (and half a dozen hours or so lol) that I'd like to share. Before I do though I hope I can give feedback here, if not I'm willing to re-post this elsewhere. Also I have no idea whether or not each or all of these are in development... but I assume they all are because... they probably all are. ;D
    1. The decision to take out hunger (for now) and replace it with food buffs is a really nice touch... but what do I do with all of my food? I've tried making all different kinds of food to see just how many I can unlock and what they can do, but even after experimentation I'm still not entirely sure what each food does exactly. It would be nice if, for example, using the kitchen bench (totally forgot it's name whoops) you can identify a food after you make it and it shows what it does. For example: Cooked Alien Meat - Restores 50 health over 30 seconds. Or whatever the statistics are. I've figured out a few things but I won't post them here for spoiler reasons. Otherwise I love the buffs, but now I just have 2-3 chests full of random foods ;(
    2. When it comes to the DPS of rapid-fire weapons not being up to snuff, I suggest a sort of armor shredding debuff where each shot increases damage or lowers the target's armor by a very minuscule amount. Obviously this won't work for every weapon, but it might help, considering a flat damage increase might be difficult to balance. Also I personally like the idea of adding more distinction between weapon types rather than simply "this gun shoots faster".
    3. Mining is indeed a tad dull, but most games with mining are somewhat dullest in this area. One suggestion (I'm sure you've heard before) that might make it more interesting, faster at higher levels, and even fun would be to add something like a mining mech series of techs. These could be temporary mining boosts to help break up the monotony a bit. It could even be a whole new quest line that either upgrades or unlocks new mining equipment techs, sort of like the penguin... hope that's not a spoiler lol. Also I think there's a lack of iron ore. Just putting that out there.
    4. I'm sure this is simply not implemented yet (or I just can't find it), but there's a lot less block crafting now. I can't seem to find anything else but wooden platforms so when I tried to make a nifty sci-fi lava ocean themed lab or base I pretty much couldn't do much. Not just because of the platforms, there doesn't seem to be an easy way of attaining the materials I need other than mining for a few hours to get all the titanium or iron to make the blocks.
    5. I think it might be a bug or something but I can't seem to make copper wire. I've already done the [spoilers] quest where the guy hints on how you make wire, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I mean I have more than enough copper, but without wire I can't make any of the wiring components and turrets! ;c
Anyways I hope these help in some way, and I'm not complaining or anything, just giving (hopefully helpful) feedback of my experience so far! Thanks for reading this if you read it.

"Hunger and/or temperature is gone" Would that not remove the biggest need for food in the game?
Even the temperature, sure it was somewhat frustrating at times perhaps but it gave more of a survival feeling to it.
I would find it a shame if it disappeared all together, also because it loses some of it's reality feeling to it. On a ice planet and even on desert ones at night it normally should cool quite a lot.
I know the same piece of text states "They’ll be back in some form for harder difficulty levels" but I personally would leave it in perhaps not as harsh (quickly emptying) on the lower levels without protection and or heat sources.

May I make a suggestion on the "Building on planet vs. building in ship" part?

I think you could make work of energy to create more dynamics in ship vs. planet building. A ship of that size, with on-board facilities like robotic workbenches, 3D printers, etc. would require a lot of energy. More than you can get out of a little coal. Renewable energy sources might be a good use for this, allowing players to produce geothermal energy stations, solar panels and wind turbines to harvest the natural energy of the planet to power up energy cells on the ship. Essentially, while your ship would be suitable for long range journeys, you'd still need to head back home once in a while to refuel.

Yo! I think it would be a great idea to have some sort of space log! like a book or an electronic device where the can player decides planets to keep track once visited. This would enable the player to keep notes on what he/she built on those specific planets, and in that way he/she can colonize many planets without forgetting which planets he/she built on! also, "device" could keep track of the mobs the player meets up with on those specific planets.

    So in review basically:
    -this item is a log
-has a section which keeps track of coordinates if the player chooses to record those coordinates
-records the mobs the player encounters on the planets the player chose to record
-has an extra "note" section for each planet recorded where player can insert whatever he/she wishes

This might be a good idea to post in the suggestions area, but I thought I'd get the idea out there and see if people like it first

Wow, guys. I've gotta say, the Starbound team busts their ass to make the game awesome. It's really rare that you see developers willing to come straight out and say "Right now, this sin't working well and we are going to change it."
Bravo, and these changes are awesome. I was happy to see most of the concerns I had were addressed here, and even some concerns I didn't have! :p

It doesn't bother me that much. As I said I already built, and intend to build a planetary base no matter what. I was just providing feedback, saying I don't understand why it should be required.

I really like the way the thermometer was implemented. I really felt like I was getting cold and needed torches to stay warm. Many of the changes you made should be options. I also like the current mining system and don't want too many more dungeons and encounters.

About mineing, I think you need to do mines on the planets, abandoned or not, with access to layers of ore. Or make a scanner for ore, which will highlight nearest deposit.
