Damage aside, I really do think the game would benefit from a separate ammo system rather than having EVERY gun be reliant on energy. That's great to hear. I can't count the number of times I've emptied a clip into a monster/NPC only for it to lose interest in me 5 seconds later. Also great to hear. The removal of both of those survival elements were my greatest disappointments with this Unstable update, especially regarding the hunger system. Adding all that food and removing hunger? That was an oddball decision. Although, I'm glad they'll be revamped in some form for later since even I agree their past integration was poorly done and repetitive. Kinda had a feeling some of these quests were just placeholders, and I'm glad that's the case. The coffee one in particular was pretty irritating, imo.
Technically Cold and warmth are still in the game. Frozen stars make your character undercooled without the proper gear and so do fiery stars sunburn you. Anyways I can't wait. I already love that I found some kinda OP excalibur ( legend blade ) in the unstable!
Glad you guys are looking through and improving on unstable, super looking forward to stable branch! I honestly loved the temp/hunger system so that some planets would be naturally really deadly, so i'll most likely be playing on a higher difficulty because of that. Are there any plans for temperature suits to allow you to survive on more extreme planets? Thanks! keep up the good work.
"We're back" indeed! This sounds incredible! Thanks for listening to the community on these issues, it's awesome to see a plan for all of them!!
To increase the need to maintain existing mines, perhaps you could make vein much much longer and larger, but also be quite thin, so a coal vein could stretch up and through a planet for "miles", but also have many stone/ice/whatever blocks between bits, chunks, or big areas of coal. That way the player could follow little pieces through the crust of the planet, sometimes finding bigger deposits, or thicker vein areas. This could lead to a way more interesting mining experience, especially with the micro dungeons they would encounter while mining that you detailed, as the player searches for a continuation of the vein. It would also encourage the player to set up mining bases for particular veins. Of course, you would also have to make the veins rarer, but the long nature of the veins would make them about as easy to find. I actually have a lengthy post about this in the suggestions, so you could read that too for other ideas I had concerning that aspect of the game.
With the building path especially, I still believe that a shield generator that increases the time to break blocks/decorations in an area/on a planet would help against random players looking to destroy everything you have, and would simply make it much less entertaining to randomly destroy other people's stuff. This idea has it's flaws, but still, something to decrease annoyance while playing online.
Just hoping for efficiency improvements soon. Especially considering I can run Bioshock infinite at max with no issue and yet this game stutters and slows on me, not being able to blow past that with the raw power of my specs is a shame.
Amazing as always. I am most looking forward to the fleshed out mining, and the required on-world building, that will improve the game ten fold!! Would a full city world be possible at some point? I think it'd be great to have a completely developed world, maybe make it a broken down abandoned city or something, that would be fun to explore.
I strongly disagree with this... My ship is my home! I don't care if I can quickly and conveniently teleport all the way back to the bata sector to my home planet to craft things, it's just not the same. Please, please! Don't do this!
I believe that things will be majorly for building/farming progression paths. So maybe explorer path won't suffer from changes! Anyway I'm big fan of planned features. Hopefully we'll see them soon, but at the same time not being rushed...
That would defeat the entire purposes of race-based cultural space ships. I can't see that likely to be implemented. I'm picturing the atmospheric generator from Aliens. Who's with me?
I think it's good that they are giving us a reason to build on a planet, I think it's annoying that they are making it a need as well.
Damn this post turned me on. Literally all of the problems I have with the current build (besides dull npcs), you are fixing. Gg chucklefish! Excited to see the progress.
Is the next stable update going to be version 1.0 or are you still working towards that? I'm not sure since I haven't played any of the recent unstable updates so that I don't spoil it for myself.
