How funny. I still remember when I was younger and saw Japanese games being discarded by the American public for being too hard. In the following years several games would suffer changes related to difficulty when released outside of Japan to be better accepted. And now this, times are changing... I'm pretty sure that this game will provide challenges for players of all levels. (With or without mods.)
Hm- m... Yeah, the hunger and temperature are implemented bad, but you need to add it back. Maybe need to implement it better, but add it in next update. P. S. Sorry for bad English.
They will bring these things back in a different form, they confirmed as much in this very update. It will be awesome to see how they will undoubtedly make these mechanics be awesome. I'm looking forward to it. Personally I think they need to combine them too....for example if a planet is hot or cold it doesn't mean that it cannot be radioactive and vice-versa or that the monsters on it cannot be the baddest crawlies you'll ever want to run screaming from. Still I'm not enough of a supa 1337 heraredcorez dude to mind if the easy difficulty is a casual-friendly walk around and smell the flowers mode that every soccer mom who's never touched a game before can enjoy....in fact I'm all for that, if only for the joy of seeing the 1337 kidz cry about the "filthy casuals".
Big fan of this game and I'm looking forward to the new content. One thing I do not agree with is the requirement to build certain things on planets. I basically shelved this game waiting for the ship upgrades because that's how I want to play. I don't want to be penalized for wanting to stay on my ship. If people like building intricate structures on a plantes surface that's great but it's not what I like to do. IMO what it all comes down to is people who like having unique creative housing will have it planetside and for the people who just want a place to hang their hat with no fuss they will have their ship. I don't think either one should be penalized since that's just the way they want to play.
Well.....have you thought of using the customized ships mod and build your own intricate planet housing ship! This mod has existed since forever.....you could have been happily playing this game the entire time with whatever you consider to be the best ship eva!!
I don't get why some people are so scared of mods like they're some insanely hard things to install that only smart people can do when in fact installing a mod amounts to dropping a folder in another folder and enjoying the awesomeness. Occasionally you might have another minor step like deleting your shipworld to allow a ship from a mod to replace whatever you've got but really it isn't that bloody difficult at all.
Well you gotta realize a significant amount of users can't find the Starbound folder. Make of that what you will.
What? You just right click on the Starbound icon in Steam, go into properties, browse through the tabs until you find the one with the button that says "browse local files" and click on that!
Or even simpler still, type "Starbound" in the search bar under the Windows home button....but that seems like rocket science to some......I am constantly surprised at just how little some can reason.
That works too, though you'll have to wait forever while Windows logs everything on your computer for the umpteenth time... Still, it's an option, and once you've got it it is an easy mater to put a shortcut on your desktop for future use.
Taking out hunger and temperature from Normal difficulty really takes from the experience of the game, the roleplay element alone is a big factor.
Not to everyone, but if it's a big deal to you I can about guarantee you there will be mods bringing these features back to normal. Beyond that these survival bits were really poorly implemented, more like a quick tack-on than actual features, so they really needed to be reworked anyway.
Assuming there will be three difficulties as there are now, and noticing how Tiy wrote "they’ll be back in some form for harder difficulty levels", plural, what made you think Normal wouldn't have 'em? Edit: I'm experiencing a distinct feeling of déjà moo...
I know how to use mods. My point was neither of the 2 play styles should be better than the other that's all I was saying. I was just expressing my opinion on the subject.
Well that's great, I just don't get why you'd stop playing due to missing ship upgrades. I don't really like any of the default race ships at all, upgraded or not.
Maybe because they were announced like a year ago and I didn't think it would take this long to implement?
