So I spawn onto an ice planet (only level 1 mind you) and the screen kept on going bright white and i would die. For ages i thought this was the contrast going bananas and that i was dying from a bird shooting me or something (couldnt tell cause i couldnt see)

After figuring this out its pretty much game over because i cant walk far enough from my spawn to the one tree that is nearby without dying many times. When i was able to make a successful rush to the tree, i died many times trying to simply chop it because the cold drains way to fast. i finally got SOME wood to make a single fire with. but realized, what was the point? as i still couldnt move more then 2 feet away from it.

So ice planets starting off = GG

Also heath re-gen of any kind atm suck (regens WAY to slow in beds etc, health needles do bugger all and food currently seems to do nothing which i would hope is just the beta thing) im hoping someone mods in simple out of combat health regen. and monsters spawn WAY to quick. i dont (personally) like monsters re spawning IMMEDIATELY off screen. means you have to re-clear the same paths over and over and over with in a very short period of time

if you want to keep a path clear, i've heared it said mobs dont spawn on player placed blocks.

You can use plant fiber in a spinner thing to make fabric, and then use that to make bandages in basic crafting.

I'm pretty sure better beds regenerate health faster; as to why wooden beds go so slow. But spawning on an ice planet does suck, you could try and place torches to do something, or quickly grab coal and go back to your ship and fly to another planet nearby (If there are any)

You need to build a camp fire to warm up, or carry torches and place them on the floor next to you to prevent from freezing.

Starting out on an ice-planet is rough, but torches and campfires should keep you alive.

As soon as you get some coal you can fuel up and leave, to hopefully a warming planet.

Stand next to a campfire, it prevents the white screen

scarce on coal, pretty much no trees, torches arnt warming me ( i figured they should but they just aint) and with the beds i guess i woulda thought that would have been just a much faster way to regen health, i figured natural regen woulda been a normal thing :/ i guess its just a personal thing that i dont really wanna be bandaging myself every 2 secs (literally because monsters do a shit ton of dmg) or lay in a bed for the good part of 2 solid minutes at a time lol

As Tiy posted: "Added new armor that provides a good amount of warmth early on in the game at the sacrifice of armor levels"

That WILL be good if you spawn on one of them ice planets.

yeah but also kind of irrelevant if you can't chop down trees etc...

i would honestly just start over with a different character.

The game is programmed that you start on a Forest World. Yes Ice Worlds are harsh, but you CANT start on them.

It's possible the latest patch may have bugged character generation to make it possible to begin on an ice planet. If this is really the case, I highly recommend just remaking your character from scratch. Ice worlds are unnecessarily difficult to survive if you don't have any gear going into them.

I'm sorry you had such a hard time, OP. It's a much better starting experience on the regular forest biomes. ^^

I went to a snow planet earlier today. I was walking around and then noticed OH SNAP im freezing. Teleported to my ship and promptly flew away.

However i was hoping to explore my first snow biome :(

Don't you read? He can barely walk away from the spawn.

Anyway, I think they should make sure you don't spawn on snow planets as your first planet, because in many cases you could get stranded.

  19. They did. Your starting planet is ALWAYS a forest.

Avoid snow in the beginning. Then get snow infantry armor from the spinning wheel and its all good.
