Been a while since I've checked in (rather busy lately) but I have to say the weekly format is much better, less clutter and repetition. Anyway with that said and the knowledge that I have been out of the loop I have a question about something and perhaps some light could be shed on it: Meat is earned through the use of hunting bows. It’s a pretty good food source, so start practicing your archery. Wasn't it not too long ago that you guys were trying to reduce inventory issues (like the whole colored dirt stuff) and streamline it a bit? I've got nothing against archery but it seems kind of silly to need to carry an extra tool around when logically you can get the same functionality from a blade or any projectile that doesn't just straight out irradiate or vaporize the prey.
Nice update love everything that has been done but please enough with the story telling, if you want to do a story like that put it in the RP section I'm tired of reading useless stories when I only log on to read the updates. Don't get me wrong I understand there will be people that will enjoy this kind of stuff but I am sure there is plenty who don't and just want to read what has been done.
I would like the Florian ship more, if the green vines were on the inside, and maybe greyish, dead ones on the outside, unless they are space mutant plants that can survive out in space... In the Avians case, I guess they went for a temple of a ship, or terracota one, I'd like to see a pyramid shaped one, if that could be somehow made, some difference in the core design wouldn't hurt between the races.
I already know that I'm making a Floran, and possibly a Novakid when they get released... So I'm a bit disappointed in the Floran ship, as well. I understand about the reverse engineering of an existing technology, but the lore of the Avians said that it was one of their ships that crashed and got dismantled. So why does the Floran ship look like an Apex ship that someone planted vines on(look at it... it's an exact duplicate of the Apex ship)? Shouldn't it have a few similarities to the starter? Though I still think that their ship should be more plant-like.
Does that matter? It doesn't say that bows will be the FIRST weapon that gathers meat. It says the bow is the way to gather meat, and sounds like the only weapon that can. Seems silly to force you to use a certain weapon, when shooting something in the head nets you plenty of meat from the body. Vaguely reminds me of WoW's quest system, with all the headless ogres, pawless nightsabers, and toothless mu'shan.
Just a thought on the archery hunting thing....cool idea but I think if it is the only way to get meat it will limit the game unnecessarily. I was really hoping to have very few limits on my action in this game. That is what I find appealing about Minecraft. the world is based around certain basic rules/ideas. For example If you kill a cow you get meat and leather. If you use a bow to kill the cow that's fine but if you accidentally drop some sand on it and it dies voila, meat, leather. No matter what u use to kill a Cow it's still meat and leather. If the only way to get food Is with a bow it takes away innovation and experimentation. This in my opinion takes away the sandbox feel the game was shaping up as and turns it into something less. If you use a plasma cannon to kill a mouse; yea no meat but a machine gun fight with collateral "cow" damage should get you some meat. Plus...Spiky pit traps have been used for hunting for eons. Molly please let me hunt with spiky pit traps
lol "Object health"... runs around the house singing "I can swing my sword, sword,..." ups, i just broke... EVERYTHING! Btw, my favourite ship was the yellow one with big ruby on it. It pretty neat in my opinion
Okay, at first I wasn't entirely sure I was going to be an Avian due to their ship...but with this new ship design I am hooked for sure! In fact every single ship looks flippin awesome! However...the Floren one looks a little.....eh...well it looks like its lacking a bit of creativity like the other ships...just thought I would say that.
