I now know that the zombie attack will actually be all of us besieging the Chucklefish offices muttering "Beeetaaaaahh..."
I was rather opposed to friday updates instead of daily at first but now I totally get it! This is great update! I love the weapons
Ooooohhhh... nice ships. And.. nice everything in fact. Now back on Risk of Rain while waiting for the next weekly update... (even if I'll come multiple times per day perfectly knowing there will be no update until friday).
Maaaaaaaan, I gotta say.. Those new ships look terrible to me. Old ships here for comparison: http://imgur.com/a/qeVq4#0 Farewell, old Floran ship... The new Human Ship reminds me of this http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Endar_Spire
Magic weapons? VERY NICE. I hope the game has a good mixture of magic and science. That was probably my favorite aspect of Terraria. "Ack! That lich keeps hitting me with homing soul blasts! Good thing I'm resistant. What the...? Is that skeleton holding a ROCKET LAUNCHER?!"
Do you understand how long it takes to implement stuff? If they continued to do the daily updates, it'd just be a straight week of the exact same update. There's only so much you can accomplish in a day, so it's almost pointless to talk about: "Day 1:We're 30% done with feature F; Day 2: We're 35% done with feature F," and so on.
The new ships sucks ?! omg.. The old ones had no detail, a standard outline with 2 details that doesn't mean nothing... Look at the new ones now, totaly different, more details and more adaptive to their races and different shapes... New Ships > old ships
I really hope they don't add magic in this game. That's Terraria's appeal, magical weapons, spells, mythical beasts. It kinda kills the appeal of a scifi game when you cross genres. It's cool if there's mods for it, but I definitely would'nt want it in the official release. Imagine watching a Lord of the Rings movie and out of the blue Frodo gets his hand cut off by Darth Vader. Or Yoda is fighting off hordes of trolls? Well actually Yoda fighting off hordes of anything would look cool. But I prefer Starbound to stay magic free.
I don't like the fact that you get no meat if you're not using bows. With explosive weapons, sure, but if you kill something with a laser you'd get just as much meat. Even with bullet weapons the amount of usable meat could have just been reduced. As i'm in complaining mode, I still don't like the fact that dead mobs disappear in thin air, hoping a mod will change that eventually. Other than that it's looking great, looking forward for the release!
I don't recall anyone on the team actually saying that. Just something people have assumed. No doubt someone will grab a quote somewhere to prove me wrong but... meh.
Use this thread to discuss the beta, this is a news thread so either discuss the news OR use the dedicated beta thread to discuss more about beta if you want to. Thanks
I wonder how many times you've worked on large scale projects, because I can tell you, plan a project as precisely as you want, the likelihood is that you will not accomplish it as planned. there are far too many things that no human being can possibly plan contingencies for. I've been working with a small team on a game for a college project, and we are already a just a week behind because of someone catching the flu. You just cannot plan for all of the things that can happen. For all we know, Chucklefish had an insanely detailed and intricate plan from day one to release of how things would go. But as we have seen, you just cannot plan for everything. best way to some it up is "Sh!t happens." I'm sorry if I came off as a bit rude, but there is no need to either insult Chucklfish's abilities or think they do this with a purpose.
There ain't no such thing as too much skull-shooting swords. Those are some sweet looking ships, that's for sure. I'm quite confident that we'll be able to put some different textures on them. Perhaps make the backgrounds more race-specific (like a grass background for the Floran ship)
