Weekly Screenshots: A Request

I am not one of the people who are constantly raging for an early release or an open Alpha. However, as a fan of this game I would love to see more info. I understand that the staff is incredibly busy, and I don't want to distract from that by asking for huge updates all the time.
All this being said, I have a suggestion/request of the staff for all of us Starbounders on the forum.

Would it be possible to release a single screenshot every week?

This would allow the fans to have something new, and some reliable update that requires very little effort or trouble for the staff. Testing for bugs? Pop a couple screenshots, and then pick one for the "Weekly Screenshot." This would take literally less than a minute, and would satisfy some of the info-begging. (of which I am guilty, as evidenced by this thread)

They could make some screenshots, at least 2 times a month. Because why not? ^^

it wouldn't bother me if it was every 2 weeks a screenshot was released either
nor would it have to be something completely new each time, a nice screen of just a dev or 2 going through an area checking for bugs etc. as the OP said above would be fine

 

Yeah, that would be cool if it where every two weeks or so. Though an in-game trailer/game play video would be amazing and probably satisfy me for a long time.

Yeah, I approve this. Yes, I know, patience is important, but this will barely take any time at all. Personally, I haven't found a game as fun as Terraria ever, I must say that it is my #1 game of all time. Naturally I would be very anxious to a similar game and would appreciate the tiny amount of work needed to just make a quick screenshot of what the devs are working on every week. It would make the wait for what could easily be my new favorite amongst games much easier.

 

I don't want to be greedy but I think a screen shot every week would be good. It's not like that's a lot to ask for..

 

May I add that I second what Bine said, it's not like you have to go click the screenshots, they could make a separate thread on the forums for that.

 

In the end it would only be a maximum of ~20 screenshots if they posted a new one every week from now until the end of August (forcasted release time). Most newly released video games have at least that many queued up by release for promo news stories anyway. (at least that I have seen...Civilization, Empire Earth, Spore, etc)

Another question...Are there any downsides to this suggestion that we, the fans, can't see? I guess the devs could feel like they can't change things once they show us...

 

I would love to see this, but I think the devs would post more than one a week if they wanted to. The thing is, they are trying to keep the game mostly secret.

 

Myself I think they have been VERY open with us about the development of the game. Blue's list of confirmed information is evidence of that. They don't WANT to give away the entire game, and thus they choose to limit the release of further info. When they feel they have something to share, they SHARE it. I can understand everyone wants to see more, but I think pressuring them is just going to make them retreat still further from sharing anything at all.

 

I don't want to bash the devs but if they release a screenshot once a week untill the end of august (estimated release date) and they think that will spoil the game, they need to expand the game.
I think the "mystery technique" should be mixed with the "hype technique." Give us screenshots but don't explaint them. Like before Terraria updates, devs released screen shots without explaining them. That keeps the mystery of not knowing what's to come, let's people know a little bit about what they're working on and even creates a better, more active community that speculates what all these screenshots could mean.

 

Why not? They can just say that thing x is going to change, and change it
Maybe bioemerl is right and devs are trying to keep the game in secret... but we would still like to know more anyway.

 

That is the great thing about Screenshots...they don't actually confirm or give away all that much. They could just be images for us to speculate about and dissect. (that is what makes forums fun)
