Nah, we don't need a new website theme. At least, not until after starbound is released. Even then, keep the original and just let people switch.
Leave it as it is, or at least keep the dark look in some form or fashion. It's easier on the eyes as it is because it's not too bright and not too dark. If you ARE going to change it, then it'd be nice to have layout options, with the current one being one of them.
I would love a new theme, but i personally enjoy the darker ones so my display that Playstarbound.com is always open on doesn't shine so much at night. But i love the current theme as well!
I love the theme as it is, but could you possibly change the background picture every month? Just like how you put out new artwork every month! That would be nice!
The only thing that bugs me about the current one is the lack of logic in the Navigation bar ordering. (It's chronological of the order the pages were added in, but otherwise doesn't make sense to me - Contact probably shouldn't be squeezed in the middle, Suggestions is odd at the end, etc.) If you think you'll be adding more links in the navigation bar at some point where it'll take more space than available in one line of lines, maybe do drop-down menus or something, e.g.: Home Community -- Live Chat -- Suggestions -- Forums Media -- Screenshots/Videos -- Soundtrack Information -- About -- FAQ -- Team Contact Pre-Order (Purchase)
I'm surprised that you're thinking of changing the site with everything else you have on your plate. But it makes sense for you to change it now in anticipation of the beta's release. If you want to change the site, do something fancy with the homepage. Let it be simple and atmospheric with links to important parts of the site. Make a graphical masterpiece that will leave a great first impression. One option is to make the homepage in the style of the roadmap. Remember that those of us who follow development represent a small portion of your audience. Take our recommendations with that in mind. Make your homepage address a broader audience. The announcements and forums should be easy to access for the regulars, but so should media and download stuff (or whatever else first-time users tend to go for). For the love of what is best in life, please stay away from Flash. No matter what you decide, I trust your team to do a great job. Everything you've done so far has been great and I'm sure we won't be disappointed. Keep it up!
The theme is great as it is now, changes in the background image that would give out a portion of the game's atmosphere would be great. like pixelated galaxies or in-game images of space stations, stuff like that
This theme is good as is. It clearly give vibe of Per Aspera Ad Astra atmosphere, which completely suitable to Starbound, since its about exploration of almost infinite universe.
