Extremely low on our priorities list.. I personally don't mind either way, but I do prefer bright font on dark background. So much easier on the eyes. Just my two cents.
Doesn't the current scrolling banner show a dark swath of sky full of stars? Not sure how well they could do something else space-related with the resolution available in 16-bit graphics. It'd be hard to squeeze the Kuiper Belt into a 1 inch banner image...
You can leave it as it is, i can look at it first thing in the morning cause of the dark theme. There is no need to invest time in changing something only for the sake of changing.
It's great just as it is, maybe later you could make it more 'starboundish' with the design more mimicking the Starbound UI but for now it's fine. (although it might be kind of interesting and probably fairly easy to implement a random background each time the page is travelled to...)
Huh, that's a good idea. Though I too prefer this scheme, having options could satisfy mostly everyone. EDIT: perhaps there could also be a way to create custom themes?
All we need is an ability to swap fonts of site, posts and something else. Because I definitely would like to see BLACK background on site, but WHITE post's background. And of course basic color of text must be switched to black in this case.
See, the way I look at it is right now, if you change it to a Starbound theme, you're giving away spoilers: And if you update to something that ISN'T Starbound themed, I hardly see the point. What you might consider doing instead--and again, this is just a suggestion--is leave it as is for now, but after game launch, update to a really spiffy layout. Then, whenever you add delicious cake new content, you can update the website banner image to let us know there are new secrets to be found, new depths of the game to explore, and new adventures to go on. In other news: Both the cake AND the 'pie' are lies!? O, the tangled webs we weave!!!
I believe Maddox said it best in his FAQ: I've chosen a black background for most of my text because it's easier on the eyes than staring at a white screen.
Maybe something with lots of creature sprites from the game. Something with things that are actually going to be in the game although the current theme is really nice too.
There are many cool new design possibility but the actual is cool enouth until the game release ! When you have extra time, animated background could be fun, with biome traveling or trailer gameplay demo...
