Although the dark theme you have now is nice, I think a lighter theme would be cool. No matter what you change it to, if you do change it that is, Im sure I'll like it.
I think the current site is fine, but it might be cool to have like random characters bouncing around or shooting things in the header. I wouldnt mind seeing a lighter theme either though
yes. make it light. ping or light blu. something "nice and fun". belive it or not. new ppl will think the game is more fun (actually) i hade very harsh restictive thoughts about the game at first before starting readeing. (dark space exploring sux) but nice green environments is fun. the site should emphaze lightness and sun
How about something with pink hues to accent my sweet speedo!? Or maybe some light blues to contrast my sweet speedo!? I'm just joshing, it looks schmexy as is.
A change could be nice, just ensure it does not blind me when i crack open the website. The ability to change themes could be great too.
I promise that after the open beta's released the site theme will be moot I'M ITCHIN' LIKE A FIEND HERE!!
If you were to change anything, change the header image to something else, that'd be easy and quick to do, and change how the top of the page feels pretty dramatically without it being distracting. If you did that like once a week, or if you figured out a way to automatically update the site with a random screenshot from the dev blog, I don't think that anyone could complain about that, not to mention it'd be really cool and make the site feel slightly more alive, just by regularly changing one picture.
If you do decide to change the layout try not to go with black on white font or vice versa. For whatever reason people with dyslexia can read a lot better when it's a grey on black or just grey and anything. Black and white don't mix.
As long as everything is still dark and the background images are have starry skies and SPAAAAAAAAACE, I'm fine with it. I definitely won't like colorful and bright themes. If you add them, please leave this theme as an option in the site's settings.
I would continue to incorporate parts of the game as they are released, as you have been doing, graphics, sounds, characters. i like a game website that almost feels like the start screen of the game itself. i also prefer a dark background for the desk, at least.
Is it just the art you are changing? If so could one of 6 random art themes show up? One for each planet type (6 right?).
