So this is my idea, A weapons testing facility or block sample testing aboard your ship, or base or what ever.

The could test various weapon you come across or make, and make them more powerful, provide detailed explainations into how it works, useless trivia, what it is best to use against, stats, that sort of stuff.

Just for the hell of it, here is a novice picture I drew to show my idea visually.

(ignore what it is shooting at) :p sorry about the size of the image BTW, didn't think it was that big
Basic idea, someone sits behind the desk, and pushes a button to shoot, records are made, information and data is collect, probably by computers that are not present in this picture.

Sorry if this has been done before.

cool idea. testing your weapon before you set out on your big adventure could be vital.
but considering that (all?) weapons can be randomly generated, it would be an overwelming amount of records stored on that computer.

Kind of like the "bug-testing" in Starship Troopers ... Great idea!

Yes you are not wrong there, maybe a "Save or Delete information?" choice would be useful to resolve this issue.

Good idea for testing, but that robot arm is a horrible shot, It missed a fish inside a barrel!

Seems a bit pointless when you can just grab it and shoot it at the nearest living thing

Ha, you could just do that, but hey, this could be a mini game as well as a test, or something like that. To each there own methods.

it's good point you have made, but I feel inclined to disagree with it.
it's an important part of some weapon based games to show advanced stats, for example its alot easier to let a machine calulate DPS, than trying to work it out for yourself.
not only that, I think its interesting idea to find out more about your favorate weapon.
I will say that there are some things you can only try for yourself for example how does the; range, knockback, stability, etc. factor in to the usability in battle. a training course that allows unlimited ammo usage while there would be a nice addition.
