I like this idea. It could also let the developers make vanity only weapons, with useless stats, but cool looks. I could see player walloping baddies with a broom on Halloween or a candy cane on X-mas
And to prevent abuse it'd simply follow the same format WoW's transmogrification follows. You can only reskin a weapon of the same catagory.
I came here to suggest this very thing. I love the early hylotl katana swords, but hate the high end versions. I'd love to use the normal looking swords in a weapon vanity slot.
That sounds nice! Maybe find a way to prevent exploit though. (1 hand weapons only work as vanity for 1 hand weapons, 2 for 2, guns for guns)
I've been thinking the same thing myself! As there is a lot of cool looking weapons that are next to useless in combat, I feel it's a shame to put all that artwork to waste! So either, the ability to improve current weapons up to next tier, or just put them in a vanity slot so you can go for your specific look.
I'd like this, I've found some really awesome weapons, but they have horrible stats (such as USCM guns). It should also change the ammo fired. Support!
Wouldn't it be way cooler to have something like a "Re-modeler", which would work like a slightly modified 3D-Scanner/Printer and would look similar to the current, mostly avoided by many, Pixel-Compressor? I see quite some problems with the "weapon-vanity-slot". As already mentioned: One shouldn't be able to use a bonehammer as skin for a dagger for example or even a gun as skin for an axe, which would make the "weapon-vanity-slot" unecessarily complicated to implement followed by endless posts asking about why their loved bonehammer-skin isn't shown as replacement for their pistol. With the "Weapon Re-Modeler" one could: - scan in an orginal, which would get lost of course, like with the 3D-Scanner currently - put a weapon one wants to be re-modeled into another slot than the "scan-slot" - the "Re-Modeler" then only shows available Models of the same type as the weapon in the slot This also would open up finding another kind of "Blueprints" for all kinds of weapons. Because of this mechanic implemented nearly completely already, I think this way it could have a chance to find it's way into the final. What do the rest of you think ? EDIT: The costs for a single re-modeling should be dependant on the Tier the weapon to be re-modeled is, of course.
The button on the top of the post thing, in the fourth box from the right, click the smiley face and choose the cookie...
Hey, actually a handful of people liking my idea. Looks like the developers are now forced to implement it.
This would be cool. I found a steel chair weapon that is very cool looking, but hits with the force of a wet tissue.
I really really really hate fusing weapons to adjust appearance. I propose adding a weapon vanity button to the equipment window, probably above your back slots or something. When you click on it, it will show five slots: single-handed melee, shield, two-handed melee, spear, and bow.
It's one of the Avian tier weapons. I'm not sure what kind it is since I don't have the character anymore. I'll check again when I get there with my current Avian. I think it counted as a mace or hammer because I found they tended to consistently be the most damaging weapon each tier.
