The idea is simple, make a way to modify weapons at a crafting table. The weapon modification would probably be very expensive in cost, but only give slight modifications that aren't to game altering. The modifications can be more aesthetic than combative (similar to the paint idea or even including the paint idea) which would be cheaper. It also would add some customization and personilization to your weapons. The main idea would to be have a higher level crafting table like this: Then, after you collect all the raw materials, these materials being ranging from common to rare, you create your modification that can either: Add it permanently and it doesn't break and is removable for a cost Added as a cheaper temporary addition that is or is not removable and breaks after a certain amount of bullets depending on the weapon. I also did some sprite modeling for some examples, and if anyone has any more suggestions for mod types than just comment in this thread with the idea and I will make it _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Silencer: Effect: Reduced aggression from enemies Zoomed Images / Examples: Actual Size: _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Improved Sights: Effect: Increased accuracy or Increased damage Zoomed Images: Before: After: Actual Size: _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Incendiary Round / Burning Laser: Effect: Adds small damage over time effect with fire or Small explosion / Area of effect Images: Work in Progress _______________________________________________________________________________________________ More below

If we could mod weapons, how would we do it? Would the modifications already be implemented into the game for us to choose from? Or could we make our own (aesthetic) looks/modifications for weapons? So could you personally personalize your weapons, or personalize them with the options they give you? (I think it is an excellent idea by the way. I can't sprite though, and I don't know much about different weapons, real life ones at least )
I was thinking they would be set types in game at the beginning, and then maybe have an aesthetic set where you could draw on the weapons / mods and that would be much more expensive
That sounds like a good idea, since not all of us can sprite, but some of us would want to create their own. I would hire you to make me a weapon if they allowed this. But yes, personalization and making others jealous is always very important in these types of games, (or any game for that matter). If by some manufacturing error, they forget to implement this, I sure hope they have A LOT of different weapons in the game.
This sounds cool, Maybe you have to find blueprints for the weapon before any modding can be done? Also were you thinking randomized weapon mods like terraria or you get to choose which mod, personally I didn't really like the way weapon modding worked in terraria.
Thats what I was thinking too Relkofizz. Also, I REEEAAALLY like the blueprint idea. Have a set couple of ones you can make by default and then have more you can find as blueprints.
Lol I'll help if you need , love this idea personally I want to have an entire armor weapon setup that is completely customized
More customization is always better! Love the idea! How about mounted mini-weapons? Like if a weapon is long enough, you can add a mini weapon to it. Like a long rifle can have a bayonette attached to it but a small pistol can't, or vice-versa wiht a long sword with an attachable mini-rifle which cannot be attached to pistols. The mounted weapon can be anything, a sword (beyonette), axe, shotgun, grenade launcher, tiny rocket launcher, maybe even a taser?
I think this would be a great feature to add as a mechanic but it would probably take a lot of tie to develop and I think it should be a post-release addition.
