No worries. Everyone should always be forgiven. ;) Sorry if I ranted a little.

Clarification: This thread makes more sense when considered with this thread about recycling, alluded to in this thread.

I like the idea of procedurally-generated weapons, but the current system is not very well-optimized. As I posted about before, slow but powerful guns are invariably far better than fast guns.

EDIT: By the way, I think the concept expressed in this thread is excellent. You should officially propose it in the Suggestions forum.

I appreciate your vote of confidence. I will likely post there when I'm conscious again, unless some nice mod decides to move it for me.

Yeah, I think that this is a great idea. I remember playing borderlands which I'm pretty sure also uses procedural weapons, and it is a cool idea. But it doesn't really add much more than randomized stats with random enhancements of sorts. If I can't put my weapons together with the parts I want, then there isn't any difference between that and randomized stats. As for what it disassembles to, I would say that since it's already made of many parts, why not have it break into those parts? So maybe it has a thing that does shoot bones, and one that says bones explode, etc etc. With things like that you could conceivably make some cool weapons, as long as the special parts don't conflict. You could have like a machine shotgun that shoots homing explosive bullets that leech health, or even crazier, so it'd have to be expensive. This is getting long, so I'll cut it off soon. One more thing, you'd have to make sure certain things don't happen, like if you had infinitely piercing bullets, and homing shots, then you'd have bullets that just seek and destroy all enemies, but then again, that'd be awesome.

Yes, This would be great, I found an amazing looking assault rifle but all of it's stats are awful, I would definitely pay to change it's stats with my other boring looking guns that is OP.

Regret: I wish I could find an OP gun. Even the high level gun I've bought is absolutely worthless compared to some of the same tier melee weapons with specials I've found. Why are guns so worthless in Starbound?

Additional: This idea has now officially been suggested in this thread.

Yeah, I basically found a sniper rifle with the perfect fire-rate so it fires so as soon as the energy recharges with massive damage for a gun. I also realize now with AP this sytem would be a much better addition this just replacing the current sytem.
