So the game will have all manor of trees and plant life... Flowers, mushrooms, tufts of grass, crops, spiky things, metal trees, crystals, cacti, etc... Lots of variety, no doubt at all. But what about things that bridge the size gap? Like, trees are big and tall, but the plants are quite small. I suggest a variety of shrubs that are somewhere from 2-5 blocks wide and 2-5 blocks tall-- smaller than trees but larger than plants. Instead of being chopped-down for resources like trees and plants, they would yield renewable berries of some sort, and could be removed and placed to create a natural farm or to decorate your garden. They would come in the same sort of variety that trees come in, or perhaps they could even be made from the tree graphics. A simple idea that would be relatively easy to implement, and maybe bring more depth to the environment. Also, if you hacked the game to get the FishAxe, you could cut down the tallest tree in the forest with a herring!
This would add a lot of feeling to forested or jungle planets! They would also be fun to crouch down and hide in. There could be dead desert shrubs as well. To any who oppose the implementation of shrubbery, I will personally say "Nih"!
When I saw the name I tought it was a suggestion for fools errand quest. Yes sure, I suppose that on a aesctetic side, something of that kind could be usefull, but then, why not make it a block and make it the size and shape that you want?.
Hm, a fool's errand quest would either be really funny, or really annoying. Each time you fulfill the quest requirement and return for the reward, you're just given another BS quest. That particular quest-giver would never actually grant a reward, just like the Knights who say "Nih". When you finally return and refuse to accept the next quest in the endless chain, the quest-giver attacks you and you get a reward based on how many pointless quests you completed. I think it would be nice to have block-like plants with custom shapes, like the corruption vines in Terraria, only you could place them like blocks into any shape you wanted. However, I still think proper bushes would be nice. It's like... You could build trees and furniture and whatever else out of blocks, but it wouldn't be as aesthetically pleasing.
