If people jump any FURTHER to conclusions, they're going to break a leg. As the devs have made clear on several occasions, this is not a popularity contest. They will select people who they can TRUST with it, and who they feel that they can rely on. All the beggars and whiners can pretty much forget about any chance at testing the game. "Look at ME! I have 850 likes!!! I AM BETTER THAN EVERYONE!" is also not going to get anyone anywhere. As for a demo, they have no need for one. A demo is intended to create publicity, to draw people in. When they feel the game is close enough to release, they will worry about how and where to advertise it. Right now, they don't see the need to hand over the game early. If they had wanted an alpha or open beta for this game, there would have been one. From where they sit, the way people bicker over getting to play it right this minute, is all the more reason NOT to give out more screenshots, videos, or information.

There's also the fact that there's a very big chance that anything done in the beta may have to be reset when updates are made. That happened a lot during Minecraft's alpha and beta stages, though few people tend to bring that up because it weakens their own argument.

Beta testing is hard work. (Though not as hard as when they make you do it for money. Then they make you press the right key 100 times to make sure it doesn't break the game, and then maybe another 100 just to make sure.) You need the right attitude and skills to be able to give the devs anything of value.

good, which I suggest is, without any type of spread, only for those who are really interested they would come to do the download of the play, you might make available a version metal vein that was dísponivel for 3 days, then you would put the sale, but the one who went down before that, only would have the up-to-date play automatically, as terraria (he did not say that terraria it had the same this beginning).X3

The idea of a beta sounds amazing, however... playing an incomplete game probably wouldn't satisfy me. v: I would rather want a great, first and complete version of the game rather than a partly finished version, even if it means taking more time.

  5. This could not be more true.
The developers do not listen to whiny, greedy fans. It's exactly this kind of fanbase that a game dev DOESN'T want to have.

    Hello,

instead of a demo I would like a closed beta - to report stuff and such.

    Regards,

  9. This short post has made my day. As someone stated, yes, the topic isn't about beta, but I do appreciate what you said.
So many people think that the beta is a reward for the most active members so they can get early access.

Why did it made your day? It's just right - demo IS NOT beta ... but since I hate demos, I would like a beta.

Why do you hate demos? There are many games priced 50$ and up that I will never buy because they don't have demos, so I can't see if they're a game I'll enjoy. Demos can also be used for extra story, such as the Starcraft demo actually being a prologue to the story of the full game.

I'd rather play the finished product but whatever...

I can't stand demos... It ruins the complete surprise of the game itself! Besides if there's a closed beta that's all there will be before full release! And mainly it is used strictly for testing purposes.

I am just as impatient as the next person for playing this game, but, I at least want the full experience. So I wait... and wait... and wait.... and fill my time with other games. Like TERA... and stuff...

no demo for me, i want the whole full finished thing so i get EVERTHING otherwise im like: yay demo, god dang already finished.

oft: please don't let one planet be as big as one in terraria, i don't want to spend THAT much time on it if they would be (maybe i should make a anti suggestion about this if there isnt already?).

You know I think the Dev's said they didn't want an open beta already...
They don't want the story to be spoiled, and a demo would accomplish the same faults an open beta would have in that respect.

Personally if there were a demo I would play it, but i'd rather there be no demo.... :p

They couldn't pack the awesomeness of Starbound into a demo, so you'll have to wait :p

I really don't want a demo. It kind of ruins it. Heck, i'm ready to drop a few right now!
