We want a playable demo

Actually, i am a active member, and got a bunch of likes, so i hope that if this happen, im on that list ^^

 

You seem pretty confident about that, seeing as the Devs have not exactly said the specifics on how they are picking beta testers... ;p

So u will probably have a chance too (if that's right, cuz he did say he was "quoting tiy with a curse" so maybe not)

 

Yes, but that is not SPECIFIC, right? I mean, it could mean a few different things (I can't find the words to explain what I mean )
Activity isn't really based on like/post ratio... The beta testers will be picked by how much they contribute and help the forums and the community.

 

true, like if your a Space Junkie (highest rated) you might still not get it (u probably would, but theres a chance) U mean like if Pedguin or someone famous on youtube got it, its a much higher chance is what your saying, right?

There isn't any way to help out though, we have such little information about the game in terms of content and release dates that there is not much we can do.
I used to be much more active on the forums until I realised there was little point to being as active as I was when there was such little being accomplished. The only reason they have to let you-tubers on at a higher priority than other forum users would be because they are you-tubers, which is in fact prejudice.

In case you haven't yet figured out what I'm saying, there are little to no ways to help out for the average (wannabe) players.

About the closed beta thing;
We have discussed how people will be chosen for the beta, and they said that It won't be based off of who has the most likes, who has the highest forum rank, or the most posts. The people that will be chosen for the beta will have to be helpful to other members, contribute good ideas to conversations, and make the forum a better place.
Saying "I want to be in the beta!" or "I've got the most posts" or something like that is not going to help.
The developers will be looking for good members of the community that could respect the beta and it's purpose; to look for bugs.

As for the demo, I can almost guarantee you that there won't be a "demo". Demo, to my knowledge, stands for demonstration, and the biggest "demonstrations" we are going to get are the updates on development on the main page.

And if you are active on the forums and have tons of posts, you're probably just doing it for beta access. I mean, we don't even know that much about the game, so It's kinda hard to post about something that you have no idea about.

 

I want a beta.
But no special things for it. Pets or otherwise.
But it should be open to all, not just the most active members.

 

Or a way to play a game before spending your money on it. I personally like trying something out before blowing $60 on big new games.

 

Being the only Space Junkie so far, I can say that that is definitely true xD
If I was a person who did nothing but post a lot and farmed likes, that would have gotten me to Space Junkie the same way as posting quality messages which are helpful towards the community. The former, however, won't get you anything AFAIK, while the latter would earn you a good chance of getting into the beta c:

 

I meant help out around the forums; Answer questions, guide the newbies, essentially stuff that eases the weight on the mods shoulders
No Devs said anything about youtubers getting priority either...

 

I am very surprised this wasn't asked before.

 

Or you could just look up reviews and ask your friends if it was any good.
And Starbound is probably going to be like 10-20 dollars, so It's not like your spending your entire life savings.

 

Reading words on a page is in no way similar to actually trying out a game. Also other people's opinions are largely irrelevant, since they could dislike a game that you like.

 

Personally, I wouldn't mind a demo for the game, although I'd prefer if the content played wasn't in the actual game, maybe a few demo worlds and demo quests, just to get a feel for the game.
