Thanks for that well though out complaint. Don't worry about the post being long, Personally I find it far more interesting to know everything one has to say on a subject rather then a condensed version like "Overall not satisfied, stopped playing after maxing out my first character. Came back, not enough to get me to play again. Worried people will leave the game for something shinier and more complete if this continues. KayThxBai." Especially since we know what your gripes with development is and how well you keep/kept up with development. As well as what you fear will happen to the game if thinks don't change.

They still seem to still do the Email newsletter every month: http://playstarbound.com/newsletter/. It is quite quiet about what is going on with the game without visiting the front page every weekday though (they don't post on weekends normally from what i recall.).

Thanks for logging in to express your opinion. It is nice to get comments from people who are normally not vocal about their experience with the game and the company at large. Hopefully things get better and they start to focus on things like the planned rewrite of the sectors into a single sector after this big update they are working on. They are getting a little better with the daily updates about what they are doing in the game (I know it is not much, but at least we are more in the loop again) managed to go a while before getting to the point of doing those, "Everyone is just working on what they were working on last time, in the mean time here is a thing from one of the teams we publish has been doing" (I don't mind them but i know they irritate people on the edge of their seat about the next update to no end).

Go big or go (small so you can get) home (faster).

I've lost interest in it for now (playing a lot of Crea lately), but when there is a major update I'll be back. I won't say I'm not concerned about the development. I can wait for it, however. Though if development ceases tomorrow, I've still gotten 40+ hours of exploration and building, so it isn't like I didn't get my money out of it.

Atfer Tiy thought it would be a good Idea to speak of Starbound 2 just 2 month (or so) after the release of the Alpha of Starbound, i´ve grown pretty mistrustful. I hope i´m still wrong but what happens know ( or better what not) did not help to trust any of Chucklefish.

There was real talk of SB2 (and not just people making a parallel of starbound and towns)?

Edit: Or by SB2 do you mean "Pirate Game"

I am so god damn sick and tired of the appologist culture that has been created by this early-access, retail-price-alpha cancer that's killing gaming. Not only are you okay with being screwed, you're actually vehemently defending the ones doing the screwing. I honestly cannot fathom how people like you think.

Sorry, but I don't buy the whole "But we didn't know this would be so much WORK until we pocketed $4 Million!" I don't care if you're indie, I don't care if it's your first game, if you want to wear your big-boy pants then expect to take the big-boy responsibilities.

    Ok then,what would you prefer?

A rushed out Early access game that would never even meet expectations just for the sake of time?

Or a good game done late and with eneough suport to be constantnly updated, worked on and effectively, witha whole lot of love, work and money put into it?

This obviously isnt Apha Cancer, otherwise, why would ever so many of us even be here, might I ask?

    Kiling gaming?

My friend, this game isnt killing gaming, its upgrading it.Terraria 1.2 and incoming 1.3 were caused by this game, due to Redigit becoming threatened by the competition.

If you trully cannot wait, then its fine, personal defect, play another game in the meantime and come back when the Devs implement the update, otherwise,it would be wise to leave,as you are only spreading poorly based hatred.

    Not verry smart,might I add.

Tell me: What is the difference between a "rushed and crap" game and a game that is released for full price in an unfinished state?

  17. Its called a beta and you were told Exactly that it is unfinished, If you dont like it its your fault for buying it. [IMG]

Rushed means they will obey to the fans, demanding both quality in almost impossible deadlines and generaly, they will simply kill the game.See Sonic 06,and I rest my case.

Delayed and Good is when Devs have the timeline, the objectives, the will to program it,make assets and have a good oll time while making it.

Full price? This is 15 bucks on steam, when finished it will be around 20 bucks, and it honestly gave me atleast 150 hour of gameplay,so I atleast got a good time out of it.How many games with 15 bucks price tags can entertain for over 100 hours?

Yes,it is unfinished,it is litteraly early acess, where is your point?

Did you just buy a incomplete game in development and treat it like a completely developed game?Da hell is wrong with you?

The difference is that releasing a game early access, in a state similar to a rushed a crap game, comes with a laundry list of things that might exist someday but probably won't, as is evident here. That is the point.

As far as whether or not I expected a finished game on purchase, no, of course I didn't. I foolishly had faith that Chucklefish would finish this game in reasonable time. And make no mistake, I STILL didn't expect the game to be 100% completed and polished by this point. The problem that I (and many others) are having, the problem that you seem to have missed, is that the staggering lack of progress in development is pushing the projected "finish date" years into the future. Look at just how incredibly little has been done since the game was first handed over to us. Extrapolate that. Take a moment and think about how long it has taken them to fix what was already in the game, then realize the mammoth list of features that haven't even been started. Hell, when's the last time you heard about ANY of the stretch goals that were met during the kickstarter campaign? Why are we only getting news updates on one feature being worked on, do they mean to say that an entire team of people is working on a single facet of the game?

You see, when I put down my money on this game, I stopped being just a hopeful fan. I became an investor. In the real world, investors expect results. Investors expect their investment to pay off. In most cases, that would mean their money would come back with a return as promised. Instead, Chucklefish made an agreement with every single person who donated or bought the game that it would eventually be everything they promised it to be. Well, it's time for them to grow up, act like a real business, set a release date and meet it. This is the real world, there is no mercy here.

And for what it's worth, Terraria was made in ~5 months by two men, cost me $10, and has provided 223 hours of entertainment and counting. I don't want to hear any more excuses about how Chucklefish can't finish their god damn game.

That's what happen in this kind of «open» game development when expectations are not met. I hope they can stand the heat and focus on their work. There is a lot to be done.
