    If any folks out there don't know what game this pic of a slot machine what rewards Guns,Ammo.... and in this particular Screenshot Iridium its Borderlands 2.

    Maybe Chucklefish could even come up with its own gambling game, like Fallout did with Caravan and Star Wars with Pazaak.

    Mario is littered with them, albeit they are mini games, but, it's usually you spending an amount of your coins collected for a chance to win an extra life, a powerup, or nothing.

    Gotta agree on that, the AI gets a practically unsurmountable advantage by you always going first. I don't like save reloading for a preferred outcome in games, but I make an exception for Pazaak.

    personally im normally terrible when it comes to gambling in video games, but i support this idea anyway because why not

    some slot machines, space poker(and other card games maybe) or some other type of gambling
    maybe betting on monster battles? entering your own tamed monster into an arena and maybe possibly it'll win or lose. or just bet on some npc's monster?

    even gladiator battle betting perhaps too with people, avians, and the other races etc.

    I was just gonna say something like this. Money sinks, in general, are a good thing. You just need to incorporate them in such a way that they make sense within the bounds of your game's universe. Gambling is an excellent "go to" mechanism for this, as it fits in many different universes with only minor adjustments to otherwise well-known games.

    One of those little minigames that have a sideshow feel to it would be nice. And, if they had an easter egg hidden in the combinations that could result, that'd be even better :p
