This vote page could be playstarbound-com/vote.

This page will have a weekly poll full of things we can vote on for the next update. this is way better then forum polls because the devs will be actively involved.

It will consist of two main polls

Dev poll where 4 or 5 dev ideas can be voted on. the top one will usually make it into the game. The runner up idea will make a return in next weeks poll.

Community spotlight poll. The devs search for suggestions in threads and put them up for vote. Their will be a (none of the above) option to keep from voting in something nobody wants.

This is truly the way to include your community in the game and have an active way of seeing what people want and don't want in the game.

It will also include a comments section where people can comment on the current poll of the week and give active feedback.

Thanks :) . It came in mind while I was commenting on a forum about how everyone wants different things and thought about how the devs don't really have a representation of what users want and this really helps the people scared to post on forums because all they have to do is vote for what they like instead of getting torn apart in a thread.

No we don't. Good design is about making all the pieces work together. Considering we don't know everything they have in store, we can hardly make an informed decision.

Something that doesn't get voted in doesn't mean it won't make it to final game.

I'd rather the devs work on their vision for the game while seeing other points of view rather than try and match the majority of the mob's view of what the game should be. A game the devs don't enjoy isn't one they're going to put as much of their heart and effort into.

And yet we funded the project anyways.

This is what I'm saying slightly. A lot of people helped this game with funding. I bought it on steam but a lot ordered from the site really early and I think they would really appreciate an option to vote.

Having a community vote on features for a game makes for good customer-oriented game design, but it can create games that lack coherence or a good overall "vision." Generally, it's better to let the developers do their own thing and then add in anything extra that we want by suggesting it or creating mods.

That being said, if you like making decisions on what goes into a game, you might enjoy being a producer some day. ;)

I don't know about a vote page, but I'd love to see an issue tracker like a number of games have (Natural Selection 2 comes to mind) where issues/features/bugs can be submitted, and everyone votes for them. The most desired features/biggest bugs float to the top, and the developers know which they need to tackle first.

Haha I wish man. But the idea wasn't really for me I just see a lot of posts about balancing this, make this boss do this , this should do that so I figured people would want to vote about it but I guess that ideas down the drain.

voting is a nice idea but the devs are doing a good job so far i think let them get on with it and as their vision for the game unfolds we can continue to make suggestions without the need for a vote ..remember 1 person could come up with an idea that would just make the devs go "whoa thats awesome" but if it was up for voting might not get put forward beacuae a more mainstream idea was more popular

Might be too early in development to give us the ability to "vote" on fixes. Maybe wait until the bulk of the features are in place first?

That's exactly what I was thinking as I read, wasn't sure if everyone had noticed that up the top of the site =)

Ive never seen that before its nifty but it doesn't promise anything . it looks like the land of where dreams go to die.

I think that if they did add a vote page, but only on one specific issue.

For example, a page is made to case your vote on "which Sector system we should use".
    With options
    1: Keep it as is.
2: Combine all sectors but keep progression in place.
    3: No structure at all.
Or whatever other ideas people have come up with.

Then, ultimately the developers would have the final say-so, but at least it would give them some idea of what the community wants.

Oh, I can't agree with that - they wouldn't have gone to all the trouble of putting up the page, and the option to vote on suggestions if it was where dreams go to die =) Having them put up a specific poll with their suggestions would promise no more than the new suggestion section does.

I think it's a great idea, and gives everyone a chance to put up their suggestions, and if enough people agree with them, it gets to the front of the page and therefore to the devs attention =) I have put up my won suggestion, which will never get to the front page, but I appreciate having the chance to suggest it, and the possibility that it might be seen
