I do find it surprising that so many feeble organics are able to overcome their inherent limitations in this group. I can only assume that you are exceptional members of your respective inferior carbon-based species and as such are subject to fewer crippling flaws than average.

i am not saying that one should stray too far to either side of the spectrum, since that is a horrible thing to do in all facets of life, but i'm saying that conflict allows people to be themselves and have their own separate opinion. i would much rather partake in a genuine, slightly smaller community that argues and is more aggressive than an abundance of cookie-cutter personalities who do nothing but get along and talk about how great everyone and everything is. i've been gaming since birth almost, and have been a part of a plethora of gaming communities, both large and small, and i can say that the smaller communities were obviously much more rewarding experiences, as you stated with the "elite few." people spoke their minds, there was always shit happening, and at the end of the day, although there were many rivalries and controversies, people still kept at least a semblance of mutual respect for one another. just because people are not nice does not mean people cannot be happy and have fun, it is just a different avenue of doing so.

i agree with pretty much everything here, however my opinion still stands. although the forum itself is from a neutral foundation, you're not going to find hardcore competitive ragers outright flocking to a starbound forum, let's be real. starbound is a game to casually enjoy with a group of friends, so naturally the community will be more mellow and with more passive personalities. with these passive personalities come (to me) a bland, conforming, reddit-esque circle-jerk, i'm not sugar-coating how i feel, and i'm not trying to make anyone agree with me. while sites should adapt to cater to a broader audience, they should still have a niche. if you are trying to please everyone, then instead of creating something potentially extraordinary for less, you end up with something mediocre for more. whichever route people want to take is up to them, but that's my stance.

i'm not saying anything like that, but if people want to survive what life throws at them with a smile on their face, they need to fix fundamental problems they have. poking fun at each other and insults are not a bad thing. arguments are not a bad thing. all these things make up for excitement and a hell of a lot more fun than "hi you are nice and i love you and starbound roxx!!!!" problem is, this, as you mentioned, will detract people from the forums. at the same time though, it will make others into better human beings and weed out the people that cannot handle it. it's harsh, but it's something that the latter will have to deal with eventually. people need to learn to always be happy, regardless of circumstance, not only be happy when the situation calls for it.

overall, i do agree with a decent amount of what you said, but i'm not sure i like how this community is as it stands, and i probably will not be sticking around it much, other than the occasional lurking for information and whatnot. this forum has already established its identity, and it is one that i am not particularly fond of. call me cynical or a "party pooper," that's fine.

but yeah. that's it. you can even say there's no circle-jerking, yet this entire thread is one.

Pif I don't know WHAT you are talking about, now excuse me while I eat my steak before its cool. -shades-

Lul, in all honesty this is a really good community, but yea I think people who push the "I was here before you" thing can quickly spoil it. Trolls can be dealt with easily enough and users can go "Lul what a troll" but if a person is honestly acting as if their E-Points really push them ahead, then we have a problem. XP

How can someone argue in a forum, saying that there is not enough argument in said forum? That's just so... Ironic.
Anyway people are reading waaaay to deeply into what I said. I agree with most of these points, I just think that this community has the right balance of hug box and mosh pit, and you can always find somewhere to speak about the contriversial. I do agree that the most controversial things in this forum are a bit piff, but I don't see that as a huge problem.

I disagree with this comment. Some people go nuts if you give negative feedback. That is why I don't go on the suggestions sub-forum anymore.

Yes this community is rather awsome, it's why I keep coming back to read other peoples posts and stuffs. The discussion and debates are handled in such a calm manner to where it's nice to read what multiple parties have to say on the many topics here. :D
