I'd like a Clarinet too. A guitar... probably not. Alex has said it tons of times, replicating string instruments is hard. I would try to sample it...

You can get some awesome results from an electric guitar VSTi (a physically modelled one instead of sample-based, because royalties) plus Guitar Rig / VANDAL
And yeah, The string instruments are hard to replicate, because there's a TON of ways to play with them (chords, dyads, hammer-ons, pull-offs, bending, legatos, glissandos, slides... even if you play the string upside-down or downside-up ) and the Starbound sampling engine is pretty limited (Key on, key off, sample fade. That's all)

That's why I'm refraining to launch RK Lead Guitar / Overdrive Guitar just now, because its quality is subpar at this moment

But no pitch-bending support makes me very, very sad

 

The pitch bend could be achived via the actual ABC file, if the song is written pproperly that the instrment changes pitch quickly enough up and down it could simulate the "wawawaaaahhh" and down/upslides a real guitar can pull, you just have to let people know if they write secific ABC songs for your instruments that the lead guitar has to have those specific notes in play?[DOUBLEPOST=1431810293][/DOUBLEPOST]Also..... is the hammered dulcimer an string instrument? I really don't know

 

I'm afraid I can't tell people "hey guys, you must edit your files in order to use my instruments!" 99% of the Starbound users just convert their favourite MIDIs into ABC or download ABC-ready songs bundles.
That's a solution if someone have the time / knowledge to edit a MIDI via DAW beforehand

And yup, the dulcimer is a percussion/string instrument

 

Guilty! I'm one of them. Little time and education to actually do that, I'm just a music enthusiast and lover, not a pro.

 

hehe, I'm guilty too I edited a bunch of MIDIs to accommodate them for the Starbound ABC format. But I wouldn't do that in a daily basis, tho

 

Overdrive is sub-par in the vanilla game anyways

 

Yeah but I must not fall into the same mistakes if I'm aiming to improve the vanilla instruments

 

In the next update PUH-LEEZE include the dueling banjos song

nothing, it was my favorite part of the comment, because if you shift the pitch of some peoples death-growls it sounds like a long burp

 

How do I obtain these instruments? Sorry, I know at least the music works, which means the instruments should work, but idk how to obtain these.

 

Use the crafting table
