  3. The fact that pressure equalises in a U shaped hole makes me happy...

It seems you can break blocks from an awfully long distance away... was I the only one who noticed that...

Dev tools, such as the fishaxe on the last instance.

    Very cool!
...is it weird that I expected somebody to get eaten by a shark? o_O

Oh and the part about water evaporating (in the description) makes me think that maybe pooling rain is a possibility after all!
It'd be silly to have huge pools in a desert but if it evaporates then it's no problem.

Also, this is my 20th StarBound video! *happy dance*

Fill a pressurized tank up with sharks and have a breakable wall that is facing the direction of your friend's castle.
    A shark canon! :sneaky:

are you sure you actually paid attention to the water physics ? because they are nothing like terrarias water physics...o_O

Sweet water physics, flooding is going to be a lot of fun ;p
What we need next is a combat demo IMO

There's but only one thing that bugs me in the video. The devs seem to be able to mine blocks really far away on the screen. Especially at the really end, Tiy uses his fish-thing to mine blocks about half the horizontal screen away. That makes no sense to me, especially seeing how you can only see 2 blocks deep in the ground before seeing only pitch darkness.

I hope it's only a dev superpower for testing and stuff, which I highly believe is the case, else I must admit I doubt of this feature of mining.

Other than that, good job to the team! :)

I agree for combat demo. Unfortunately, I feel like we won't see a single Starbound fight for at least the next 40 days, let alone see any actual mech/vehicule/pet/monster. Chucklefish seems to desire showing us only fully completed or nearly completed stuff... Which is a good thing. But oh my patience. lol

I second this. But it depends on what the devs are currently working on.

I think it's pretty obvious that the range is only that big for testing purposes

Yeah, it is the fishaxe, it's got nothing to do with the finalized game, it's a dev tool like the Terrarian Zapinator.

Interesting comment. What part of the "Physics" (not aesthetics) of the water was similar to Terraria?

I ask because Terraria had almost no water physics at all. There is no water pressure in Terraria for starters, which allowed you to dig little breathing holes at the bottom of the ocean. This is probably not possible with the water pressure as shown in this demo, since the weight of the water above will fill any hole you may dig. (go back and check out how the water went up the "U bend" in the video. In Terraria that wouldn't have happened.

If you are talking about how the water flowed, that isn't really physics so much as it is aesthetics.

EDIT: Oh and Great demo dev-team!

Did you ever actually mess with water in Terraria? I just hopped on one of my worlds and took a screenshot to show an example:

Hmm... very good, the flow seems good and I like that the water pressure pushes up smaller water sources, I was confused on the part where that water came out of no where... but there's probably an explanation for that.
Though I do think some fish could make the water look more alive, even though all that most people will do is kill and eat them :lod:

So now we will all drown trying to save ourselves the Terraria way.

On second thought, we can now swim without a rare item...

Call me obsessed if you must, but I literally started hyperventilating when I saw this on the front page, and I yelled in protest, very loudly, when I had to pause the video to pick up my ringing phone.
