Water Bases anyone?

Oh so no details quite yet. I guess I'm more than happy to know that pumps are in.

 

Yeah, I'll probably make an underwater base, but I wonder how I'm supposed to get inside it? Airlock?

It'd be sweet for like a MP planet, or a secret base ya know? You're being chased, you run to the planet and while everyone is looking up and down for you in the "fake" bases you built, you're outfiting in your underwater base haha, especially if it's "DEEP" ya know?

 

I would love to have an underwater base on a mostly oceanic world, and it will likely be much more easy in Starbound to accomplish such a feat. I would not be surprised if we are able to build pumps so that we could pump out water from an underwater structure during the construction phase.

 

Hopefully not with a "tube" that has to go to the surface. I'd MUCH rather build a dock at the surface. Just a plain, unassuming fishing dock. That I can park a sub at. I'd use it to dive to my underwater lair. Pull into a flooded dry dock, close the door behind me. And "hopefully" flip a switch to pump all the water out. So I can hop out.

 

I would build a log home on a water side with an under passage to get into an underwater base with lots of cottage styled decoration.

 

I would love to know more about pumps and machines in general... some information would be really nice. After all, I am going to try and build myself a nice and big underwater base on an ocean planet.

 

I don't doubt that we will have something like that in game, come full release. It seems very likely, especially with all the care that is put into the water physics.

 

Thing is, I don't want it to be just a base thats underwater. I want it to have a reason to being underwater, for example unlimited water for water mills to generate power or whatever. I actually want it to be a base of sorts, not just a home.

 

My friend managed to make an underwater base in Terraria ... So nothing is impossible and I intend to make my own underwater base in Starbound! x'D

 

Last I heard, all those mechanisms would be easy to add to the game. But he took a poll and the majority of those that voted hated the idea of complex machines like those.

 

later on in the game im gonna make a small city underwater like that place were jarjar used to live in star wars(the place that look epic that they went to once then was never mentioned again )
im gonna build it at the vary bottom of the ocean in the middle of a really big ocean
it will be epic !

 

My main base will definately be underwater, but yea, still waiting to see what sorts of pumps and mechanics are available, WTB airlocks.

 

since i heard about starbound I've been planning my underwater base - cannot wait!

 

I'm going to miss Terraria pump-doors, if you know what i mean or starting a flood in a hell.

 

for a strange reason after reading this thread I have the strange urge to flood everything on at least one planet... preferably one with though ocean mobs...

 

I'm wondering if their communicating-vessels system for liquids also takes the pressure in both vessels into account.

 

This was one of my bases in Terraria. Looking forward to what we can do in Starbound using electronics or whatever they are gonna have to create some cool systems.

Oh yea it will also be cool to see what other kind of substances we can use for these kinds of set ups. Toxic gas traps anyone?
