What I liked about Terraria over Minecraft was that terraria didn't waste your time with smelting. I understand that things in real life take time but a game shouldn't be based on how long you can play. Just sitting there waiting for something to finish and doing nothing is boring and takes away from accual game play. So what I'm saying please don't have things you have to wait for to happen. Don't make it so that you have to wait for something to cook or smelt or repair ect
I quite like the idea of having to wait for smelting. It just makes me feel like I earned it more then just it suddenly being created.
I also don't like to wait around smelting. However, i don't mind putting all of my materials into a place for the smelting to be done automatically. Maybe, it might be possible to upgrade any sort of smelting device so it can do that, or at least an upgrade to make it take less time.
I do understand what you mean but in Minecraft you can always do something else! Well, that's the same with Terarria. For example: You have just gathered a bomb and you are waiting for the demolitionist to arrive. You can still do something else like mining or cutting down some trees or... ...Yeah whatever.
Yeah next time maybe make the thread title a bit more descriptive is all. I'm not really bothered either way. It can be annoying if you don't plan ahead and can't craft when you want to, but you can always just go do something else while they smelt. I imagine that they'll probably make everything instant though due to the gameplay being a bit more fast paced than Minecraft.
I often take smelting time to get something to eat or drink so I'm ok with it having some. But to each their own.
I hope the game will be a LITTLE bit like Terarria with not so much WAITING! But for me waiting is OK.
I like the idea of having it upgrade that way everyone is happy. The best part of this idea is if it doesn't work here for the Devs that can transplant it to other game mechanics.
Adding smelt time could create another goal for the player: To create a better smelter to reduce the time. You have already stated that you do not like waiting, so you will probably be motivated to get a new furnace, etc.
I personally enjoyed the smelting process, that way I could take the time to go through my chests and find the stuff I needed to do what I wanted next, or if I didn't have it to go and collect it, but as a wise woman mod once said... Course I don't mind NOT waiting, I just liked that wait time.
It's rather bothersome when you're trying to pump a stack or two of some ore though. You mostly see people throwing another 3 furnaces to make it faster but I like the quick and painless way of smelting instantly. Regarding, 'get a better furnace=quicker;' does that work in real-life? Unless we're talking 'ye ole furnace' upgrading to, 'Super-Toaster V3000 Smelter Editiontm' it might work, though I don't like waiting.
Hello there Murky, pray tell why grace us with your presence? Anyway... Yes... I hated doing multiple stacks of stuff, but ya know I got bored of standard vanilla so fast, mods make everything better
