Because copyrights ? This is the thread for suggestions regarding the ORIGINAL GAME as it is, so if they release something like that there will be lawsuits , wich will result in fees and the closing down of chucklefish You don't want that do you ?
As far as my copyright knowledge goes, if devs were to add a familiar looking pixelated bulky suit and name it simply Power Armour or smth and a pixelated looking Bolter and name it in any way other than "Bolter", it should pass with little problem. I've seen fake Pokemon being sold with just swapped colour palette and a different name, so...
Oh boy. While I would love to stalk around representing my Eldar, I have to note that Games Workshop is EXTREMELY litigious. At any perceived slight of their properties, they instantly call the Legalicus Custodies, or the legal department for the uninitiated. As an example, they actually sued Chevrolet for their use of the term "Go Faster Red," a color that GM used in the 60's. Now, GW uses a color for the Orks that was called "Go Faster Red". They saw that GM was using it and sued them, stating that they owned this phrase. Long story and trial short, GM easily proved that they had been using this phrase since 1959 or so, when most of Games Workshop employees were not even born yet. The court told Games Workshop to go and.... well, it wasn't polite. Games Workshop never even apologized for this jerk move. Their official response? They changed the name of their paint to "Go Fasta Red," which seems similar, but is not only different enough for legal purposes, but acts as an insult to the "rednecks" that own GM. Sorry for the long winded rant, but I just want everyone to know, don't mess with Games Workshop: they will sue your pants off and claim that pants were their idea.
Well sure, just make sure that is how it comes across. I would hate to lose this game because some lawyer thought this mod was "official content,." Personally, I think this would be a cool mod. Let me kill tyranids with my eyesword!
