This is the War Tortoise. A gigantic amphibious reptile native to swampy marshlands that has had its shell replaced with a large metal dome, and has a cannon fitted inside. Once a completely natural being, the local sentient beings found it mortally wounded by a large predator. Rather than let the poor thing die, they replaced its shell with the metal dome, and set it free. Upon finding that the tortoise wanted to protect its saviors, they fitted the dome with a cannon, and the War Tortoise was born. Centuries after their masters died out, these giant reptiles still protect the land, making sure nobody gets near enough to harm their master's land. They have been seen across the galaxy, defending ruined villages, and mega-corporations alike. Rumors say that there's a civilization somewhere that sells these stoic giants to various factions, both as mounts, and as defense weapons. With its large, powerful jaw, its hard, nearly impermeable shell, and its destructive cannon, it's no wonder that they are found as defenders across the galaxy. If you're lucky, you might just find one that trusts you enough to allow you to mount it. If you're not so lucky, you'd best have your trusty Rail Gun handy, otherwise you're in for a tough fight. Looks interesting, is it operated by more then 1 person? and does it walk sideways like on the picture?
Ah, well, it's late here, so I'm not going to upload a sideways picture until tomorrow, but no, it walks forward and back. And it could be operated by more than one person, yes. On its own, it's smart enough to fight off a small task force/army, but one person can guide it while it fights on its own, and with two people the cannon could be under up/down control while the tortoise goes where the other controller pleases. I'm thinking that the two people controlling it would be NPCs, as the player is more than intelligent enough to guide a tortoise as well as control its cannon. Also, if it has NPCs with it, it could be a mini boss. Thanks for your questions, Giga!
Well they are living beings. They breathe eat and sleep. Their organs are protected by a metal floor in the dome, and their naturally long lifespan makes them perfect sentinels, you see. They're biological in nature, and design, the only mechanics are in the shell itself, and those are hooked into the nervous system of the tortoise.
