I'd like a crafting recipe or printing recipe for the wall-mounted "Oil Lantern" light found in Avian Villages and elsewhere. I like them rather a lot, but so far I'm limited to either purchasing them from merchants (assuming I can find the proper merchant) or finding them in settlements/dungeons and "liberating" them from their owners. They don't scan in the 3D Printer, and I haven't found any way to craft them using other means.
They're pretty abundant on Lush/Garden worlds though. Just steal all the crates. Or plop a flag down by a related merchant when you find one. I also really like them. But I also have not decided how I feel about whether some things should remain scarce or not for gameplay reasons. It is a lower tier item though...
if you mean the little thing in mines and such, there's a recipe for it already on your crafting table past iron and such, but at 10 iron per lantern it's WAY too expensive to make. i think it's a typoed item, since that's way more metal than a bed or table....
http://starbounder.org/Lantern .....looks like the same thing to ME. *goes to make it* haha, WOW that is the most hilariously ineffectual thing i've seen in the game yet!
My bad, I thought you meant this one. Only one iron bar + 1 torch. Didn't realize the aforementioned item had a recipe.
Yes: after making one, I never understood what the Lantern was for or what possible purpose it could serve or why you hold it like a weapon. I was hoping there'd be a way of crafting them, or scanning/printing them. It should be noted at this point that the Standing Oil Lamp can be scanned and printed: http://starbounder.org/Standing_Oil_Lamp But I'm going for the Oil Lantern, which cannot be scanned or printed: http://starbounder.org/Oil_Lantern I collected 47 of them before an update was released that suggested making a new universe. Now I'm building a giant wooden base carved out of a mountain on my starting world, and I'm out of Oil Lanterns.
