The problem is how you define random.

What is happening is you are seeing a representation of a various numbers in various combinations which is having a visible result.
Since that would give most people a headache to translate.

    People say Random.

I remember reading somewhere there is actually a way to change your universe seed, thus changing all your cords outcomes.

Maybe. Just maybe. Try reading the replies before you post?

"Seeds" define how a planet will outcome, in this case the co-ordinates. Every time some one puts in the same seeds, the same outcome will come. The game world is random generated, but the game shows the seeds so people can share the same awesome locations if they want to.

Without randomizing sector seeds, which would almost destroy the ability for players to share cool finds easily, this is as random as it gets. Random Number Generators on the whole aren't any more random. Everything "random" with computers sends a seed through an algorithm to decide what to do from it, and they're usually made to be complicated to make it hard to tell that it isn't actually random, and to jostle human input so that we wind up adding that extra bit to make it random.

Basically if you're seeing "behind the veil" of Starbound's random universe, you're actually seeing behind the veil of all "RNGs" and may have not realized it yet. Some people have felt betrayed by this without actually taking the time to form an understanding of the nature of computer "random."

I'm assuming someone has answered the question by now, amidst the arguing. Might lock this before it gets out of hand.

I do indeed think it's best that you lock the thread.

Refusing to spoon feed people information that is right in front of them =/= being a dick.
