Yes, cause the coordinates are the planet's "Seed".

 

Worlds ARE random. The coordinates are the seed that randomizes them.

Sectors are what aren't random.

Fine... I will give you an answer. Just annoyed as this is a topic that starts up everyday or so usually with the sounds of OMGZ DEV LIE GAME ISN"T RANDOM.

You know how minecraft works right? A minecraft world has a seed. Well in starbound the coordinates are the planet seeds. However the sector seeds randomize the planet locations. The thing right now is you have to manually change the sector seeds in the celestial.config in the assets folder.

 

Have you ever played MC? Basically they are randomized the same way, the seed tells the game how it is randomized. The if the first number was a 2 that might mean that there is an bump three blocks from spawn(Not really, overly simplified.) Because the world are randomized the same way the seeds are going to spawn the same worlds.

 

What seems obvious to some of us is not obvious to other people, and if a person is genuinely lazy, not loking up things before asking their questions, don't be rude to that person, kindly direct them to an answer, or answer the question yourself. Thank You.

 

Why?

 

In short, it's random generated, but it uses same seed, so result is same for all players, just like minecraft players share their world seeds.
Patches and, maybe mods can change generation, making old coordinates invalid.

 

I must echo the following:

I mean really, there's a fine line between being nice and helpful and straight up rewarding laziness, which should not be done.

 

You can change the universe seed in the game files in order to get different planets from everyone else. Or so people keep saying, I honestly have no idea how to do that though.
