So what you're saying is I should've donated $30 before, and then just bought pixel tier to have the same effect, thus forfeiting the NPC name too? And I know what you mean about people donating now not caring about supporting the devs, since they could've donated before. I mean, donating $2000 for the game and a statue? What greedy assholes, they may as well be pirates.

I would of bought the game also but, they don't allow credit card so there is no way i could pay.

Amazon Payments is as simple as having an amazon account and a credit card.

Seemed I totally missed that Roadmap, oops. It looks quite accurate then.

So it's basically a beefed-up donation page? Seems fair enough, though why was donating not allowed before this?

You're supposed to put a space after punctuation, just so you know.

Also, I don't think the OP has any idea of how this system works. I wasn't aware that supporting the dev team was a bad thing.

Yeah, all that is a good argument if you are poor, or you are just a stuck up old tightwad. Most of us aren't, so we are cool with preordering :/

And thus when money gets involved, everything goes out of whack. Seriously before we had religious debates that haven't gone nuts.
I do agree and disagree in a number areas with you. While some say "Its a company" "its business", I don't find that certain things are made 'good' because of it. While yes it does support the company overall, preorders in itself also supports bad business practices. Think about this, they have your money now. There is not a guarantee you will get exactly what you're wanting (in this case you get the soundtrack, which I might add you is beautiful). The best bet is probably wait for the product to come out, see reviews, thoughts, and opinions from other people first, then shell out the money for it. And when you think about it, you are giving them MORE money, support, (and possibly respect), by buying the game when it's released. And if you want to buy it at a cheaper price, just simply wait for the game to go on sale, (which it likely will multiple times). There is also the 4-pack on the full release if you still want to save some money still then.
By giving somebody money for a good game I am supporting the company, and giving them respect by essentially saying "Hey, you made a good product, let me buy it" and thus forth it supports good business practices.
Now if beta was already out, and the preorder came out with it, then that would be more understandable and beneficial because you can have a better idea of what you're buying.

Hey, it's cool by me if people want to throw their money at some random game, badge or otherwise that interests them. Doesn't mean everyone has to be like that.

I get supporting the game and DEVs, infact I think it's pretty cool that alot of people do it. Specially the people who can afford the higher tiers. As people have said, it does speed up the release date and help the DEVs alot. Thumbs up (and I'm serious here). Though for people like me who cannot AFFORD to spend money quickly like that (and trust me, a while ago I did, even at stupid "AAA" games or other random stuff that in the end was not worth it. Ive made my mistakes) a pre-order like this, for a game and beta invitation without any clear sign of release date is just not doable. I would rather wait for an actual release on Steam and get it on Steam sale for alot cheaper then $15. But in all honesty I would probably budge and pre-order if an actual beta was in sight (meaning a close release date).

Now now, thats a bit insulting, no?
I think op has the right to his choice, though he seems a bit confused about certain stuff, but after three pages worth of replies I think things are starting to clear up.
Look he even crossed out point 5 on his list.

But I will say this. Don't want to pre-order, you've obviously stated reasons why. Well guess what.
    That's perfectly fine.

A friend of mine says he will NOT pre-order till the beta is out.

I don't know how long you have been following this game, but for most of us, it has been a LONG, LONG FUCKING TIME coming. When the preorder hit, most of us were so ecstatic we just did it. No regrets.

You obviously have no idea about game development.
Do you think they do this for free? That they were funded? No, this was their own free time. They worked extra jobs in order for this to happen.
The Pre-Order (Including Beta Access, Extra Unreleased Soundtrack and your own copy of the game) for 15$? They said it would be 20$ for release, i think. Without the benefits, or anything. Just the game.
So this is pretty damn nice of them. It's a gift to us.

"Want a little extra? Yeah, sure. If you give us a little more money, we will even throw in some things for you as a thanks instead of you simply paying extra money. It includes everything the basic version has, with a little more just to show how grateful we are of your extra donation. It's completely optional, as the basic version already includes everything you would ever need and more. Love, developers."

You also said that they have enough money. You gotta be kidding me. What you said pisses me off beyond anything anyone has ever said here.
There are 7 team members, a few more soon to come when the 500,000$ goal has been reached. Half a million is nothing compared to how much work they put in.
Please split 500,000 by 7. You get about $71,000 for each person. Also, this isn't their final paycheck. Some of it is going to publishing, other expenses.
They worked for more than a year on this. They have bills to cover. A place to live at, software, hardware, food, slaves...
A "comfortable" yearly income is about $80,000 - $100,000. This is upper middle class, no where near how they should live.
Each of them gets $71,000, excluding production costs.

More enough, you scold them for wanting more and more money. They simply tap their hats out and ask for a little more greens in order to sustain a normal life.
What would you do if you worked so hard on this for one and a half year? Drawing, Programming, Designing, Planning, Press, Community Management, PERSONAL LIFE (Not that they have that :p )
Are you a developer of some sort, or are you just a kid scolding grown-ups for trying to sustain themselves and live a good life?

For 2000 dollars... "Wow, ridikulus, dis dun fly wit me m8".
Imagine walking up to a violin player on the street and dropping 2000$ in his case, even though he was already playing a good song that you listened to.
He will play you the best song he knows for that much money, bow and be eternally grateful.
They even put your name into the credits. Your name in the credits of a soon to be, if not already, huge game with a huge community.

Do you really think the forum join date correlates to how long someone's been waiting for this game?

Hint: I didn't hear about this game for the first time two days, either.

Like people have previously stated, this is more of a kickstarter than an actual pre-order.
If you don't want to support the devs right away that's fine, as long as you purchase the game in the end C:

BECAUSE THEY WANTED PEOPLE TO GET SOMETHING FOR THEIR MONEY. Most of us have been following the game for a long time. We know it is going to come out, and we have faith. Some Most of us just want to help the devs, and $15 dollars is a measly amount to be thinking they we are crazy for helping out. I got the $20 because I think it is worth more, but I will be buying a few more down the road. People aren't buying for the extras, they are because they CARE.

It would make a little bit of sense to actually join the furoms of a game that you've been waiting "sooo long" for, you know? But nope, you have to wait for the preorders to join the furoms don't you? Just because you spend some money on something doesn't make you a long time supporter of something. It's hard to believe someone claiming he's been a long time supporter of something when they join the official furoms the day of the preorders. If he has been watching this game for a long time, then congratulations to him. It's just rather rude to claim to be the voice of the people, in any way shape or form, when you just joined.
