Just spitballin' here, but how about you lose 30% of what's on you for dying, and 10% of whatever is in the bank. Deposits are free.

How do you feel about 37%?

    I lol'd :p

It is workable but I'd think either the penalty for carried has to increase or the bank amount penalty. Everyone would clearly bank as often as possible which would make the penalty a nerf compared to now which is too low as it is.

I dislike it because I don't die often at all. Even on threat 40 planets I just blink away if I get too low.
So I'll have to pay 40% that people pay to keep safe, when I'm not doing it to keep it safe, I'll be doing it to share with my friends or trade more efficiently than giving people an ore extractor and my ores.

As someone who can manage to keep himself from dying, this is only loss and no gain.
Only if you die a lot you'll have a SMALL positive thing from this.

They've balanced the trading pixel system for players who will die a lot, which people did in this version of the game.
When the game is released, for all we know it'll be extremely easy and everyone will be losing their pixels and it won't be to "save it in case of death" yet they're paying for that risk.

It's like I'm paying for insurance for erupting volcanoes, when my country has no volcanoes. It's just ridiculous in my opinion.
They could have made this better, is what I'm saying.

Just to make this clear. There is nothing stating that the only way to trade will be in voxels.

The way I think of voxels is they are just a shitload of penies.

Um, you don't have to use the pixel compressor. If you can avoid dying then great, this feature is unnecessary for you.

You quote three of my posts and respond to them, with your first response being nearly identical to what I was responding to in my second quoted post, as for the third I'll get to that in a minute.

No, I am not saying that you should lose 40% of resources on death, I am just proving a point when it comes to risk vs. reward. If there is no reward for taking greater risks then you are a fool for doing so. Playing is at low risk and banking all of your pixels should have something added to it to make it less effective, so that those of us who do take the risk because we are cautious will recieve our just rewards. Don't even begin to compare pixels to being as valuable as something like coal, let alone gold or diamonds. That is what my next post was about, it compared the rarity of pixels to the rarity of wheat seeds in minecraft. Yes, pixels are more important by far, but they are literally everywhere and not at all hard to obtain, which is why you shouldn't care if you have to pay to bank them, because its not at all hard to get more. It isn't putting you at a disadvantage so much as it is giving you a new option. Sure, you can continue with the pixel system as it is, but this isn't a system made for people who are fine with gathering pixels through the process as it stands, this is for people that die so often that they cannot get a large supply of pixels, because for them it is objectively better to pay a tax than to die over and over. if you don't die over and over, don't use it, it's that simple.

The nuzlucke thing was also an example you didn't understand. Of course competitive battlers don't use it with their competitive teams, because it would be idiotic to do so. That is entirely my point. Maybe a difficultly slider works for people who play singleplayer, yet another issue I already brought up, and that's all well and good for them, but for the rest of us who want a competitive multiplayer game on different servers, we dont want to be forced into gimping ourselves against our peers just so the game will be at a level of challenge that appeals to us. Perhaps the level of difficult would appeal to us more, but not many people would sacrifice their ability to compete with their peers on a server just so they can feel more challenged. The only reason someone would opt to take a higher difficulty online would be either because they don't care about competition (and it is this demographic that I am not talking about) or they are the type who enjoys lording their higher difficulty level (and therefore skill) over other players.

I'll still need it for trading and giving it to friends, as I mentioned in my post.

Well at this moment they would be, since people aren't going to be dropping ores as currency now to convert to pixels.
They'll be using the voxels where they lose tons of the pixels worth and just slow things down tons for trading people instead of encourage people to share their items.

No you won't. It will be entirely unnecessary once they implement trading.

that's not how debates work. burden of proof is on the attacker, not the defender.

to be clearer, it is up to the individual to provide proof for their own point.

Actually it'd be more like start at the beginning of a zone not the entire game. Which kinda already happens after one death since you respawn on your ship.

Edit instead of creating a new post about this and further derailing thread:
Pretty sure the majority of megaman games sent you to a stage select or gave a password which is not permadeath

post edit is in response to is immediately below this one.

Um no. That is not how megaman worked. If we did megaman style it would be permadeath.

thanks for solidifying the end of this debate, and providing proof of who the clear winner is.

You mean the fact that you lack the ability to research anything and instead make claims with no proof yet expect everyone else to provide their proof?

If you cannot do something so simple as find out what a dev said and where get off the internet please.

Your argument Never had any backup to it. My argument at its basis is founded in what is already in the game and something called the deduction or using your brain to make a very, very educated guess on what they will be adding.

it isn't my job to provide proof for your claims in a debate. this is debate 101, what part of that is difficult for you to understand?

I'm fine with banking my pixels, figuring I don't usually get a lot anyways. :p

... I don't think you got what I was getting at in the slightest, my apologies if I was unclear.

I've been following this game for well over a year now and am well-versed in what is supposed to be in the game. I'm simply stating "These are the things that need to be in the game before it might be balanced and then maybe we won't have to worry about this death penalty vs. pixel banking argument anymore". The main issue people are having right now, correct me if I'm wrong, is with the ore distribution and armor tiering gaps, as well as the lack of proper weapons(Guns) dropping/being readily available on the low-level planets (To kill the first boss).

    1. I'm aware.
    2. Again, I know all the types of current Vendors and have seen them. I'm talking about adding MORE vendor types to supplement the existing ones so players with excess pixels actually have something to spend them on so they don't have to waste all their time mining coal and cutting down trees to make thousands of torches.
    3. I have full Impervium armor, and have explored numerous worlds from level 1 all the way to 40. I've *NEVER* seen a single gun drop from an NPC. If the drop rates are so low that by the time you get to endgame you've only gotten "several" guns that sounds like it needs some serious tweaking, especially on the low-leveled planets where you need them the most.
    4, 5, 6, 7. I know.

@Draken09 A bug that kills you? A lag spike? Once the game's optimized and released (1.0 version), we shouldn't have that. Enemy off your screen? Use ctrl to survey the area before? Or maybe wear proper armor so you don't get one shot. How can an evil person kill you on multiplayer? Are you playing with griefers? Would lowering the "voxel" cost solve that problem? Absolutely not.

As I said, tradeoff. If death makes you lose 5% of your pixels, nobody cares about it. If voxels can be stored safely with 5% of your pixels lost, or if you can store all your pixels, again might as well have no death penalty. A death penalty makes you play carefully, smart.

For all we care, the devs didn't even plan to give you a "safeguard" against death. The fact that they're willing to implement something is already a sign of good will. And people wanna thank that by whining that it isn't good enough? Just please, go ahead and use cheats or an editor, or a mod that doesn't have any death penalty. I'm sure people will come up with those soon enough.
