    Voidbound Voyagers RP Thread

This thread is the official roleplaying thread for the Voidbound Voyagers. Here we will go on many adventures in a large story arc that will span the stars and involve various events created by the owners and members of the Voidbound Voyagers alike. What dangers await us? Only time will tell...
Note: To join the roleplay, you must be an applied member of the Voidbound Voyagers. If you're not one already, apply

Cloudhopper, Scar, and Pixelstomp arrive on the flagship, and Cloudhopper mentions once the rest of the crew arrives, they will be heading to a planet with a rich Erchius mine. They head there, only to be attacked by a strong creature which brings down their dropship. Miners help them, and they fight off lesser, smaller versions of the creature, before taking refuge in the miner's safehouse.

Name: Pixelstomp, better known as his nickname "Loker."
    Age: 44
    Race: Glitch
Backstory: Pixelstomp was created for a line of combat robots, but escaped and was reprogrammed by a now-dead Floran known as Loker. Loker uploaded himself into the Glitch as an AI, giving the Glitch Loker's skills and memories. He is now a bounty hunter, and helped to create the Voidbound Voyagers' military side.
    Main Weapon: A hard-light whip.
Secondary Weapon: A large titanium staff that can extend into a spear or break apart into two small rods.
Tool: A datapad built into Loker's wrist that can switch between Pixelstomp and Loker's personalities.
Strengths: Twice the brainpower due to Pixelstomp and Loker, combat experience from being a bounty hunter.
Weaknesses: Loker's personality is a bit... psychotic, which can lead to random and possibly harmful distractions in combat, and due to some injuries acquired from various bounties, there are several dozen wires exposed to attack.
Mount/Companion: A small guinea pig named Williams can be ejected from a small cage in my chest. He has an exosuit attached to him, allowing him to fly around and make quick attacks at enemies.
    Tech: Targeted blink
Appearance: A standard glitch unit with half of the head opened to reveal Loker's brain. Pixelstomp wears a set of makeshift armor and a worn cape. He has a helmet that has tally marks counting his successful bounty contracts.

    Name: Cloudhopper
Age: 110 (In reference to a Human Lifespan, that's around 30 years old.)
    Race: Floran
Backstory: Born in a small Floran Tribe, Cloud was always curious and more thoughtful than his cocoonkin. He looked to the stars, wishing for more than to hunt the remnants of a Human Military Installation for his entire life. When the Chieftain opposed Cloud's suggestion to negotiate a truce between their tribe and the human, Cloud attempted to convince his fellow villagers to overthrow the current Chieftain. Greenfinger saw potential when he visited the tribe, and brought Cloud to the Dust, where he was subjected to Drysap testing, and managed to avoid negative side effects. After several decades of work in the infamous prison, Cloud left and took the name Cloudhopper to reflect the adventurous lifestyle he would lead through the stars.

Main Weapon: Dustkeeper, an Arming Sword with a plasma blade that can cut through most organic materials.

Secondary Weapon: Aegisalt Bow and a collection of arrows tipped with a fast-acting neuromuscular-blocking drug that causes the target to become paralyzed if it hits.

    Tool: Grappling Hook

    Strengths: Master Swordsman, Intelligent

Weaknesses: His suit requires Sunlight to function, and will shut down without it, leaving him paralyzed. He's also vulnerable to the cold.

Mount/Companion: the White Suit might be a self-aware being, but if it is, Cloud doesn't tell anyone.

Tech: Cloudhopper's body is in symbiosis with a mysterious White Suit, which can repair minor wounds and provide Life Support for short periods of time if necessary. It's rumored that the reason he wears it all the time is to regulate a Drysap Addiction.

Appearance: A smooth white suit covering his entire body, except for a Red Visor covering the entirety of the face. On closer inspection, the entire suit seems to be composed of miniscule pentagon-shaped pieces of a Trianglium Alloy. In the dark, his visor gives off a faint red glow. The helmet is the only removable component of his suit.

    Name: Scar
    Age: 27 (Human Lifespan)

    Race: Floran

Backstory: Living on his Floran home planet, Scar always thought there was something missing in his life. He thought just Hunting and Killing didn't suit him, and often horrified by his friends' carnivorous behaviours. No, he sought a life in the stars, where you had control of any inhabited planet you so wish to scavenge, where winds blow in your face, reminding you that Life is Good. He was trained by the most powerful swordsman in his home village, and when he found out about guns, ooh boy was that an adventure. He thinks that everyone has their right to believe in their own opinion, and will zone out of any extreme and intense violence if he can.

Main Weapon: And energy sword, tipped with poison.

Secondary Weapon: A shotgun that has potential to blow a face off.

Tool: A belt of bombs, holding 5.

Strengths: A Good Shot, Being able to throw pretty Goddamn far.

Weaknesses: Can become horrified of excessively intense violence, leaving him quite vulnerable. He also has a natural fear for intense flames.

    Mount/Companion: none

Tech: Can energy jump and dash, but will become a tad tired after doing so.

Appearance: His armor is made of pure Rubium, along with his belt of grenades, but prefers the look of platinum armor. Has a lantern on a stick attached to his back.

    Name: Paillan
    Age: 18
    Race: Avian
Backstory: Paillan is a former member of a mercenary group called death wing. traumatized from his acts as a mercenary, he escaped his bloody past and joined a new beginning as an unknown person, and builder. To forget the past, he eats shrooms.
    Main Weapon: Laser Spear
    Secondary Weapon: Throwable laser knives
    Tool: Hammer
Strengths: Agile, perceptive and efficient. Also builds pretty fast.
Weaknesses: Tends to act insane due shrooms. Sometimes makes dangerous stuff.
    Mount/Companion: none
    Tech: Mechanical wings
    Appearance: <Check his profile pic>

    Name: JP Artemis
Age: Novakids is gaseous - ain't no star gas I ever known ever need no birthday. Novakid is as old as Novakid ever is.
Drivers license says RED STATE though so maybe that?
    Race: Goshdarn Novakid.
Backstory: Borned in the backwaters of Alpha Aurigae III to a Miss Penelope and her deadbeat boyfriend Zanzibar, JP was raised up to a real no frills lifestyle. Alpha Aurigae III was a planet populated by a small batch of gasbags, and a heapload of colonist hating orangutans what could spit poison out of theys two mouths. Some'd say it was inhospitable. Ain't a lot of big breaks coming that way. JP learned from his pa the ways of the galaxy. Taught him how to shoot and load a rifle. This is a skill that'd come in real handy when JP held up a convoy of USCM Ironmongers, too. JP was the triggerman for a smalltime gang, The Cranky Boys, and he was comin' up in the world, when things went sour. JP got stuck holdin' the bag in a freshly blown vault when those two-faced sons of bitches fled the joint. In the pen, ol' Artemis sang like a canary in exchange for a shortened sentence; ain't no honour among thieves. Word is, he's out now, and he's looking to get back at those goons; and strike it big the only way he know how: gallivanting across the galaxy in a jacked up spacetrain.
    Main Weapon: Rifles, mainly.
Secondary Weapon: Crossbows, from time to time.
    Tool: Cunning
Strengths: Gettin' into trouble, gettin' out of trouble.
    Weaknesses: Goshdarned idiot

    Name: Dark Ruin
    Age: 18 Earth Years.
    Race: Human
Backstory: Dark Ruin was born to parents within a doomsday cult, who believed that he was the chosen one to destroy the planet. Then the USCM came along and wiped the cult out, saving Dark Ruin from a life he feared and didn't understand. Being rescued at an age where he was too old to have his name changed for him, but too young to care much, his name never got changed and he never really cared. Growing up, he found that he never really fit in anywhere, having being taught the ways of the cult initially, despite being brought up in a loving family who tried to integrate him into society. Though he enjoyed his youth, and was grateful to his foster parents, he left as soon as he was able in order to try and find somewhere to fit in. Having managed to scrape together enough to buy himself a basic standard USCM independent scout uniform and basic weaponry, as well as some basic supplies, he set off to explore the galaxy, only to find out that he was sorely underfunded. Thus, he applied for, and managed to attain, a place on the Voidbound Voyagers as recruit.
Main Weapon: A simple bullet firing pistol, and a torch/flash light. This may change as the character grows, and what he can make/find.
Secondary Weapon: A basic iron Broadsword, though this may change depending on what he can find or make, and his trusty knife.
Tool:Torch/Flash Light, and a scanner as part of his Scout armour which provides him with basic information on scanned objects.
Strengths: A general interest and some knowledge of history, cultures and architecture / A budding strategist, if given time to think and plan / Determined, if nothing else
Weaknesses: Inexperienced and lacking in equipment / Can take a while to warm up to people, despite efforts / Has an unintentional cruel streak that he tries to suppress
    Mount/Companion: None as of yet
    Tech: Torch/Flash light and scanner
Appearance: (Based off of an in-game description) Your typical average male human. Nothing unduly remarkable, with long dark brown hair usually tied into a pony-tail, With basic scout armour hidden beneath dark blue jeans, a deep crimson t-shirt and a black leather jacket. The visor/scanner is still visible on his face. Generally appears laid-back, even when stressed unless doing something.

    1. Murderous Mines
When the crew goes to a planet to mine for Erchius, they encounter someone, or something, who is killing miners and leaving their mutilated bodies for all to see. Now the crew must discover what is doing this and put an end to it.

The Flagship - A large flagship which has various rooms such as the bridge, hangar, crew quarters, maintenance bay, cafeteria, etc. It is armed with two large laser cannons and several dozen turrets scattered along the hull of the ship.

Both, accepted. Let the roleplay commence!

  5. Spartacus805

    Spartacus805 Aquatic Astronaut

Scar wakes up in his small cottage on a small planet he called his own. "Alright," he says. "First day in the clan, better not screw up." He beams to his ship, keeping note about his small planet. He checks to make sure he's got everything he needs. "Food - check. Fuel - Check. Gear -check. Alright, should be good to go." He sets off to the flagship. "Just as Cloud described." He says to himself, looking at the large vessel. He lands his ship in the hangar, and meets up with Cloudhopper. "Hello, Sir. thank you for accepting my request into this clan. I will do my best to please." He says in, what he thinks, a polite manner.

((Do I have to continue from the old clan or start new like here?))

  6. Cloudhopper

    Cloudhopper Weight of the Sky

(( This is a completely new story, we're all meeting for the first time to explore the galaxy in search of money/adventure/drysap-dealers. ))

The visor of Cloud's suit splits into small segments, which slide away as the helmet splits into multiple segments and folds onto his back, revealing his face.
Cloud looks young, but determined, and has several small scars on his face. He
    grins at the new recruit.
    "
I've read your file, Scar, and I think you have quite the potential. I've heard rumors of a mine rich in Erchius few systems over, so we'll head there when the other recruits arrive, and hopefully get some more funding for future journeys by selling it."

  7. Pixelstomp

    Pixelstomp Scruffy Nerf-Herder

Loker wakes up on his small but powerful gunship, and gets up. He slides on his armor and throws his torn cape over his shoulder, and walks towards the cockpit. He sets the autopilot to the nearby flagship, and arrives after a few hours. He hovers into the hangar, and steps out.
"Hello, where is the closest newborn hylotl and when can I devour him?"
He adjusts a meter on his wrist-pad, and he goes from Loker to Pixelstomp.
"Uh, you must excuse my... other half. I am Pixelstomp, bounty hunter and pleased to be here."

Pixelstomp quickly wanders from the hangar and into his room. He quickly places some orders on SpaceAmazon for several new components to the room, such as a bounty contract updater, a weapons craft table, and more.

  8. Spartacus805

    Spartacus805 Aquatic Astronaut

"......Ok, then.." Scar says, disturbed by Pixelstomp's 'Other Side' . He turns to Cloud. "So, who are the other recruits?"

"I traveled myself at the nomal speed of ships of course, traveled from the oath start 677-b, around 3 light years from here. Took me 3 hourse to get here" Paillan said not paying attention at all
"WHAT?!" Scar says "That insane! how could a mass made of matter so fragile as living beings survive a speed larger than light speed?!" Scar says
"We do that the whole time inside ships you know?" Paillan says, and bored of the conversation, he takes out a small shroom and eats it.

Pixelstomp receives his parts for his room, and sets them up. He tries out his newly-installed bounty board, and checks. He finds one local bounty:

    Wanted
    Bounty Hunter

    Location: Erchius Mine
Target: Unknown person or creature stalking and killing miners.
    Pay: 500,000p Dead, 1,000,000p Alive

"Hmm, Erchius Mine? Didn't Cloud say we were gonna go to one?" Pixelstomp uploads the bounty to his wristpad and walks out, noting that most of the crew is here. He turns to Melon, and asks when they are headed to the mine.

  16. Dark Ruin

The flagship loomed closer the longer he stared. Kinda obvious as they were heading towards it, but it was still an impressive sight. Dark just wished that he'd been able to actually buy a ship before he'd set off. As was, he was hitching a ride from a group of traders heading past the ship and were willing to take him on, for almost all his money. He had enough for maybe a couple of days food if he ran out of provisions, but not much beyond that. He placed his hand on his chest and tapped it with his thumb, feeling the rather light metal armour protecting his chest. It made him feel slightly more secure feeling that under his t-shirt, even though it probably wouldn't do too much to stop most heavy attacks.

"Oi, Itchiker, We're tere" A gruff male voice came rattling down the stairs to he cargo hold. He'd never seen any of the crew besides the guards and the captain, so he couldn't tell who, or even what species the speaker was, just that they had problems with the letter 'h'.
"Okay, I'll head to the transporter." He called back, keeping chat to a minimum, as had everyone this journey. Well, to him anyway. He piked up his backpack and set off, nodding to the guard who had been watching him who gave him a slow nod back. Most conversation he'd had all trip and it was only a nod. He sighed as he reached the transporter. Much as he liked being alone it still bugged him to be ignored, even if he was just hitching a ride. He stepped into the teleporter and nodded to the guard there, who nodded back and activated it, allowing him to leave the quiet trader ship.

He arrived on board the flagship he'd been told to arrive on, noting the small group already there. He tensed as he quickly sized them up, attempting to figure out his place in the group, and coming to a grim conclusion.
The Floran in the white suit he knew as Cloudhopper, though he hadn't realised how many scars he had. He was a veteran and would be leading the team, from what he gathered.
The Glitch in the corner he knew partially from reputation. Pixelstomp, and he looked like he'd fought through a fair few battles, and that his reputation as an accomplished bounty hunter was well deserved.
There was another Floran around as well, though he hadn't heard of him, and he didn't like the look of the shotgun, or energy sword he carried. Another strong and capable looking warrior.
An Avian eating a shroom was hanging around as well, and though he looked like he'd seen a fair few fights, he also looked like a capable builder with that hammer.

A group of capable and experienced fighters and adventurers and then him, an unproven and inexperienced greenhorn who would no doubt get all the 'fun' jobs that people of the lowest rank always got. And when it came to fights, well as the least equipped and armed here, he appeared to be good cannon fodder.

Well, that wasn't going to stop him from making a place for himself here.
"Dark Ruin, reporting for duty sir." He said to Cloudhopper, giving him a salute in the process, unsure of how strict this group were, so he was as well keeping himself formal, for now.

((Sorry if this is too long for most, just used to most RP's wanting plenty of detail. I'll try to keep them smaller from now on if that works better for others))

Paillan, looked instantly back before anyone else. He looked deep inside dark eyes, making him feel unconfortable
an awkard silence was set between the two. Them dark had enought and broke the silence.

    "What?" he asked
    "
NO, you are not him..." Paillan yust said
    "
I am not who?" Dark askes confused
    "
I though one of my friends from the days of mercenary would come here... but this one I was awaiting for was highly dead... anyway, Cloud, I am off to my room" Paillan said yust leaving
    "
    What?" Dark said

  18. Cloudhopper

    Cloudhopper Weight of the Sky

Cloud stares at the recruit before him, a young human. Likely born on one of the outer colonies. He wondered how Humanity managed to stay strong, after what Greenfinger--

    ...Nevermind.

He gave a nod of approval to the new recruit, and saw Paillan leaving towards the crew quarters. "
Paillan, remain alert, we'll be arriving at the Erchius Mining facility in about 10 minutes. Once we're there, we'll meet up with another recruit. A novakid, if I recall correctly." Paillan nods, and then heads off to his quarters. Cloud looks over at Pixelstomp, who is silently watching the conversation. It's easier working with organics than with the Glitch. You can't tell when a robot's feeling stressed, or when it's preparing to stand up and attack you and the recruit...

Cloud hands a small tablet to Dark Ruin.
Everyone in the Voyagers got one, the ship was difficult to navigate without the interactive map included on it. "If you ever need to find your way around the ship, this should help you." The familiar backdrop of the black void peppered with distant stars faded to a gray blur, as the flagship was caught in a warp bubble for interstellar travel. Even with all of the state-of-the-art technology on the flagship, it still took quite a while to travel around the universe at the speed of light. Luckily, this would be a short trip, only about ten minutes.

Ten minutes later, the flagship hovers over the Erchius mine. Pixelstomp and the crew head down to the hangar, where there is a dropship. He looks at the crew, and asks if they are ready. They all nod, and file into the dropship, which takes off and speeds down towards the planet. As they fly over the land, a humanoid creature leaps onto the dropship and tears open a window. It leaps from wall to wall, slashing various systems including the control mechanisms. It flops out, giving off a laughter-like noise, and the dropship begins losing control. It begins spinning, hits a tree, and crashes into the ground near the mine entrance, leaving everyone unconscious.

  20. Dark Ruin

    Dark Ruin Orbital Explorer

Dark awoke with a blinding headache. He remembered none of what just happened, other than it hurt. As his vision slowly returned, he remembered a demented humanoid thing flying around, that had managed to escape before he drew his gun and then a large bang. Oh, and the box cracking him across the head. He stretched to move his legs, and found that they weren't moving. He raised his head and noticed that they were currently stuck under what appeared to be a combination of twisted metal and tree branches that had been ripped off. Well, that explained that bang. He went to move his arms, only to discover that the box that had hit him had knocked something over and trapped that as well, leaving only his left arm free to move. Great start.

He groaned as his head began feeling light and he was forced to lower it. He raised his hand to where the box had hit him to the side and near he back and felt it get wet, sticky and warm. He pulled his hand back to find blood. Great, he was bleeding. He saw his backpack near his left arm and reached out to grab it, finding it just out of reach. The bandages he had in there weren't going to do him much good unless he managed to get it. He couldn't see much else, but he didn't think anyone else would have escaped the crash without at least losing conciousness. So much for proving that he wasn't cannon fodder and that he could be useful.

He reached for the bag again, stretching and straining to get at it, causing pain to shoot through his trapped limbs as he reached, and after fumbling for some time, he closed his hand around it. He relaxed and took a few gasps of air in celebration, before realising his next problem. He'd used all his energy reaching the bag, he didn't have enough to drag it back. He half growled, half groaned as he set himself to his impossible task of staying awake while trying futility to drag the bag with the bandages back to him. All the while he felt the darkness creeping in, creeping along the sides of his vision. He wasn't going to die here, he wasn't...He wasn't... he...

Dark took another gasp of breath and gritted his teeth, forcing the darkness back. He didn't know how long he was going to last, but he wasn't going down that easy. Yet.
