Dear Chucklefish, May I humbly submit that if you're going to use the world's most beloved male vocal talent, Logan Cunningham, for the male voiceovers in Starbound, that you also use the world's most beloved female vocal talent: Ellen McLain. She did the voice for GLaDOS in Portal 1 & 2 (you probably know this already, but just in case), and she is a professionally and classically trained singer to boot. I don't think Valve has her on any kind of exclusive contract, and she stated very clearly in the interviews for Portal 1 & 2 that she had a blast working the sci-fi element, so I bet she'd enjoy doing Starbound, too. If you had Logan Cunningham and Ellen McLain on board, I think you would basically have the market cornered on...well...everything. I just say Tiy's post that he's looking for female vocal talent, and I thought I'd make this suggestion in response to it. I hope you'll consider it...I've no idea what Ms. McLain charges, but her website is available at http://ellenmclain.net/. *hoapful* Vote idea up here: http://playstarbound.com/suggestions/?p=view&id=7464 P.S. PLEASE everyone don't ruin this by bothering Mclain at her website, even if you're super eager about this. Leave it alone and maybe, just maybe, Chucklefish will pick her up if she's available...we can only hope.

anyone who downvotes this is out of their damn minds. I don't think i've EVER seen a better suggestion than this. As a player that went through the portal series, I love the voice actor with a passion, and if she were to be in starbound, just...holy cow, it's over, my life, i'm never leaving my room.
Well, I guess it's really up to her if she works with Starbound. But we can't have every voice actor people want to see in the game. If that were the case, I'd have Stephen Russel and Nolan North in there.
I would love glados's voice in this game so much, though if they go a completely different route I'm sure that would turn out great as well. Besides I'm not even sure if they would be allowed to use glados's voice.
It obviously wouldn't be GLaDOS, it would be Ellen's voice as whatever they need a female VA for. I agree with the suggestion and most of what was said, but as much as I love Logan Cunninghams Voice Acting and am REALLY glad they got him on, I doubt he's the world's most beloved. Not yet anyways, he has a way to go for that. Don't get me wrong he's incredibly high up in my opinion, but not quite at the top. (MY personal favorite male voice actor is Steven Blum.)
To be clear, I am NOT suggesting that GLaDOS be in this game. Just McClain's vocal talent. She is a classically trained singer and the request from Chucklefish was for a female voice that could both act AND sing. Clearly McClain is a gifted character actor from her cult-hit role in Portal and Portal 2. She is now going to be even more famous as her vocal talent is in the upcoming Warner Bros. movie, Pacific Rim, where she voices one of the computer systems in the lead characters' Jaeger-mechs. What say you, Chucklefish?
Don't like Glados. Don't like portal. Don't really like this idea. She's pretty much type cast in to being a robot so having her in Starbound wouldn't add anything. Might give the Valve fans a giggle but probably not worth hiring a voice actor just for that.
what how even But yeah, that would be my ideal female voice actor if you were looking for something rivaling Logan Cunningham.
It's really easy to get sick of Portal after the millionth cake joke. So I can totally understand this. Not a bad idea!
I think she would be a perfect person for the job! The devs love portal too! They already have Malukah (love Malukahs music), and the narrator from bastion. I don't see why not. Also the voice actress is a good person, she actually did a voice over for a custom map where a dude proposed to his lady. Took 6 weeks!!!!! A group of 4 people including Ellen and the person proposing. All voluntarily put time into his proposal. I thought it was something to share.
Logan Cunningham >>> Morgan Freeman, and we already have him. Well, in my opinion anyway. I know we live in a postmodern world where the very suggestion that there are absolutes causes people to get angry and write their congressman/MP. Yeesh.
why not? they did it in pacific rim. also is anyone else thinking that this silent hero bit is getting a little stale? more player characters than id like to admit are mutes, i preferred Mass Effect's approach to a hero when it came to full voice acting i was pleased, even Saints Row did an alright job at giving the player character a voice ad that game has more clowns than a circus (but only half the midgets)
She was the computer in Pacific Rim (which was AWESOME), so I can confirm Valve doesn't have an exclusive contract with her
