-A lock with number and letter sequence pasword of BE9002 I'm not sure if this has been suggested before so here it goes: Voice activated locks! It's like a normal lock expect the only way to open it is by saying the password in /say. I realise this means people nearby could overhear your password and then just steal all your stuff but I think it's mostly for style. I assume dial and Code locks are already in the game that use some kind of typing UI but voice locks wouldn't need one (unless higher level versions have some type of voice imprint option so it only opens for one person's voice) you could just say whatever your password is and wallah the door/chest/hologram would say (with it's own speach bubble) "access granted" and then open/activate or whatever. If this has already been suggested I aplogise but I just thought this be neat. Edit: Oh I just had a idea for a use: holograms/voice recordings would be able to speak the password, meaning you could set it up so you would have to talk to a hologram before it would speak a password that would open a chest. Just thought that be a cool sequence you mess with. I guess it could also be used to call elevators or something else aswell.... Edit: Heres a picture if the password was "love" PS: My pictures are clearly amazing and no-one may say otherwise. (I stole and then runied all the pixels from many uncreditied artists.)
Blankness, well we don't know if locks are going to be in-game, both for chests, doors, that is a nice thing for multiplayer. About your suggestion, if there is locks it may be interesting there is some PopUp to introduce the Code as a Password or Just a Numpad to unlock such thing. Locks would be really interesting to keep our building / storage items safe in multiplayer! :alien:
It would be handy to have locks. But what if I just use my block-mover-thingie to remove your wall, jump over the door and steal all the Bacon!
Just wire up a switch lock. A set of switches or buttons, which will only open a door when switched in a certain pattern. assuming this is possible, of course. As for moving the blocks, you'd have to destroy the block-protector thing for the house.
I think there might be some. I would also assume that there are also explosives that would not destroy blocks either. People would be reluctant to use them in combat if they all destroy nearby blocks.
Seems Utterly Pointless. As Stated We Don't Even Know If Locks Will Exist! And Anyways, If Someone Cant Open Your Door, They'll Blow It Up!
Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Finally, I can blow open the wall, and sieze the Bacon for myself, and RULE THE WORLD! On topic, it seems that locks are at this stage looking like a not so good idea. But keep up the thoughts!
If starbound doesn't feature locks and non destroyable blocks then online Multiplayer will simply not work.
I hope you remember that when I'm following you everywhere you go and burning everything you construct from the face of creation.
Voice activation is an awesome gimmick idea because it allows me to say, "Computer, please dump this man into a pit of lava." and have the floor automatically open up to an abyss of hellish fire. And if other people can activate it, I can have the floor dump them into lava if they repeat dumb memes verbatim. Serves them right.
I'd like to see this with a popup system. Do we know if you can destroy a homeworld owner's blocks? If not then this is not a moot suggestion and I totally would add this to storage, doors, everything that can be accessed as long as it is techie enough.
