Vivertra are creatures made from different materials with different elemental types. (Note: this is sort of a combination of monster and side quest in one thread, and is very long. Read at your own risk) (TL;DR at the bottom of the backstory for those of you who don't want to read a good story)

3 elemental golem-type boss monsters (Heat, cold, and nature/life/plants), with an included side-quest.

    LONG(ish) BACKSTORY
Long ago, when the planets were still forming, mere moments after the big bang or whatever started the creation of the Starbound universe, there was a spark. But this spark was no ordinary spark of mere heat and light. this spark (pause for dramatic effect) was a spark (pause again) OF LIFE.
But there was no mortal body for this spark to enter, so, for centuries, it sat idle, floating through space, waiting to find a suitable host, until finally, it grew tired of waiting. It flew down to the nearest planet, a planet very close to a sun, and because of this, most of the lava on it had not hardened into stone yet. And so, the first form of Vivertra, the Ignistra, was born.
However, the spark of life was designed to bring life to a complex host, not a simple form of rock and lava. So the leftover spark that was not being used to power the Ignistra went elsewhere, until it came across a planet of ice and water, that was very far away from the sun. And so, the second form of Vivertra, the Glacietra, was born.
However, there was still a small amount of spark left. The spark stayed on that planet for decades, looking for a more suitable host then ice and water. However, it found none, and went on it's way once again. Finally, seeing a planet that seemed green with life, it descended, finally thinking it would find a suitable host.
However, there was none, only luscious green plants. And so, becoming bored with it's ethereal existence, it formed the third form of Vivertra, the Herbistra. Finally, many millenia later, you are on your space station, attempting to find a planet to inhabit, when one of your scientists reports to you that there sensors are detecting a strange life form on the surface of the planet you are orbiting. You find this strange, seeing as the planet is desolate and far too hot to support life. However, being the scientist you are, you decide to go down the the planets surface and check it out. But when you get there, you wish you hadn't...

3 forms of creatures are made and you find them.

    THE IGNISTRA
The Ignistra is a boss monster found rarely on mostly-lava planets. It is not very fast, however, what it lacks up for in speed, it makes up for in power.

Appearance: A large bipedal monster, composed of a rock head, feet, 'hands', and body, with all conjoining limbs (arms, legs, neck) made of lava.

Encounter: When you descend down to the planet, you see a there is a large pile of rock, with lava pouring out of it. When you go over to scan it, though, it rises to a great height (it's 3 times taller than the character!), and the fight begins.

The fight: The fight with the Ignistra would have several phases. The first phase would be a simple attack phase, where the Ignistra would slowly walk around and attempt to melee you, and would occasionally shoot balls of lava, which have a 50% chance of lighting you on fire, during which you take constant damage. The second phase is when the fight gets interesting. At this phase, the Ignistra begins to warp around, by 'melting' into the lava, and popping up out of another lava pool, near you. Other then that, the second phase is the same as the first phase. Finally, the third phase, is the most difficult phase. In the third phase, the Ignistra will still warp around like in the second phase, but it will also shift into a quadrupedal stance, which greatly increases the Ignistra's speed and danger level. When the Ignistra is finally defeated, it slumps over (think Link's dying animation in Ocarina of Time) and explodes into many bits of lava and rock (These are just particle effects though, they don't actually do anything except fall off the screen and disappear).

Drops: A 100% chance to drop a 'Spark of Heat', a necessary (side)-quest item. There is also a 50% chance it will drop one of the following:
    1. Large amount of Vitrium, a very strong metal that can be used to make vehicles and other stuff
    2. An Orb of Lava, a material required to make a powerful weapon that I will go into more detail about later
    3. A Lava Drill, a very strong melee weapon for the mech

    THE GLACIETRA
The Glacietra is a boss monster rarely found on very cold planets, composed mostly of ice, with some water. The Glacietra isn't particularly slow, but it's not particularly powerful either. It's a balance of speed and power.

Appearance: The Glaceitra is a large bipedal monster, however it is only 2 times larger than the character, compared to the Ingistra's 3 times larger. It is composed of all flowing water, with ice as 'armor', which falls off through the length of the battle, increasing the Glaceitra's speed, but decreasing it's defense.

Encounter: The beginning is the same as Ignistra, (scientists saying there's a strange life form on the planet below and all that jazz) however, when you go down to the planet, rather than having to scan a rock formation, after you move from your starting point on the planet, the large ice surface in front of you cracks and falls into the water, and then Glacietra bursts out of the water, and when it lands, the water freezes below him into ice, forming a platform for him to stand on.

The fight: The fight with Glaceitra wouldn't have phases, like Ignistra, but rather as the fight goes on, Glaceitra's armor falls off and he becomes a little faster each time an armor piece falls off, but its defense lowers each time. However, as its armor falls off, its attacks would change a little each time, to accommodate its faster speed.
When the battle starts out, he will do basically the same thing as Ignistra, however, he will also jump into water (or smash through the ice as he dives) and pop up directly underneath you, by smashing through the ice (or water) and land and (re)form ice beneath his feet when he lands. He also shoots balls of ice, which have a 50% chance of freezing you, which not only does the same amount of damage as being on fire, but it also prevents you from being able to move for a short period of time. His attacks vary, depending on how much armor he has left, however they simply become a little faster, with less time in-between attacks. When you knock off all of Glaceitra's armor, it becomes enraged and starts moving at 2 times his current speed, which would be 5 times faster than when the fight begins, making him a total of 10 times faster than when the battle began. However, his defense also becomes 10 times less. Finally, when Glaceitra is defeated, (since at this point he is just a mass of flowing water) it 'de-stabilizes', and flows into the ice and water nearby. Basically, he turns into normal water again.

Drops: There is a 100% chance that it will drop a 'Spark of Frost', a necessary (side)-quest item. There is also a 50% chance of dropping any of the following:
    1. Large amount of Vitrium
    2. An Orb of Frost, also required to make the aforementioned weapon
    3. An Ice Drill, another melee weapon for the mech

    THE HERBISTRA
The Herbistra is the final (and most difficult to fight) of the Vivertra. It is very fast, with low defense.

Appearance: Herbistra is bipedal, like the other 2 Vivertra, however, it is usually crouched down, sometimes casting the illusion that it is quadrupedal. It has tree branches for its lower arm and hands, and a tree trunk for a body, and its is part of its body. It has leaves for its upper arms and legs and feet. The leaf part of its arm attaches at the middle of the branch part, which causes it to have large extensions branching back from its elbows, away from its hands.

Encounter: Like the other two, the encounter starts in your ship, with the scientists telling you there is a strange life form on the planet below, and despite there being plenty of plants there is only one life form that seems to be moving. You investigate, and when you get to the planets surface, there is a strange looking tree. You go over to scan it, and the it morphs into the Herbistra, and the fight begins!

The fight: Because Herbistra is very fast, the fight with it is very active, with Herbistra constantly on the move. It has several different attacks. They are as follows:
    1. He rushes toward you at a very high speed, slashes with his arm, then jumps away
    2. It jumps into the air, floats there for about half a second, then shoots three wood splinters down in angles in your general direction, after which he smashes to the ground, causing a small shock wave which disorients you for a moment
    3. He Turns invisible for a moment, then appears near you and hits you with his arm
During the fight, as he takes damage, wood shavings will start shooting off of him in all directions (in tight arcs, they will never go very far from him), and if they hit you, they deal medium damage and cause bleed, which deals constant damage after time, and prevents you from using healing items. After you defeat Herbistra, it will disintegrate into leaves.

Drops: 100% chance of dropping a 'Spark of Life', a necessary (side)-quest item. Also, there is a 50% chance of it dropping any one of the following:
    1. Large amount of Vitrium
    2. An Orb of Life, also required to make the aforementioned weapon
    3. A wood drill, another melee weapon for the mech

The aforementioned weapon, is called a Tri-Beam, it doesn't require ammunition, it fires laser beam that appears to be made of a red, blue, and green beam wrapping around each other, and does medium damage. It is constructed from 1 Orb of Heat, 1 Orb of Frost, 1 Orb of Life, and a medium amount of Vitrium.

AAAAAAND THAT'S THE END OF MY EXTREMELY LONG SUGGESTION. PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK BELOW. PICTURES WILL BE ADDED LATER HAVE BEEN ADDED.
