Village fail

    So Ive been trying to populate a village lately but people keep either disappearing or getting killed within 5 minutes. Tried spawning multiple gaurds but those who dont mysteriously disappear end up getting killed by the first monster to appear on their doorstep, and at 2500 a spawner, trying to keep this village populated is bleeding me dry. The monsters I think need a no-fly zone over head, or more hit points for the villagers, or cheaper spawners or something, because right now keeping any number of people around just isnt possible.

  3. I haven't tried creating a village yet, but this does sound bothersome... Perhaps there could be some sort of foundation markers, something that would allow a village to prosper without monsters spawning inside those markers.

    Perhaps I'm wrong, but I once heard that earlier in development there was talk about getting NPCs and Allies. The idea was that during your travels or during certain quests, you may end up making a friend that'd be willing to join you on your adventure.

    I don't see how so many people are having trouble with their NPCs. My village has 20 guards and 12 villagers, not a single one has been killed by monsters.

    Yeah. If some have guns and some have melee, and all are reasonably close to each other, things will die long before one of them do since they're covering each other.

    Unless some of them have shotguns. Several times I'd watch the guards fight aerial enemies, and suddenly I find myself on the brink of death because bullets hurt a lot.

    Dome your village with switch activated doors so they can't escape. Hope they get better AI or hope we can place boundaries they won't go out of later in development.

    They should introduce a Clearing Beacon item of some sort that allows you to put up a persistent shield against non-humanoid threats around whatever kind of town/village you're trying to build. The radius of the shield could be increased at the cost of pixels, creating an economic trade-off for expansion. Me thinks this kind of system would be a good one for large, city vs. city pvp worlds as well, as it would introduce a sort of economic race for expansion of shields, placement of guards around shields, and a stealth/defense mechanism to the whole enterprise of building in general.
