Vehicle observation from new update

Here is the original mech shown from waaaaaaay back when.


And here is the new update image.

Notice how the new mech mirrors the pseudo 3D effect that furniture and objects have while the original one was 2D and flat.

This is a very welcome modification as the vehicles will fit into the environments much better now.

Yeah I noticed this too. The new mech looks much better and much more fitting of Starbound's atmosphere.

Yeah, it's really awesome. The artstyle is getting better every update, as is everything else.

Also we need a race joke thread.

 

It's a nice 'mech, but I was hoping for a robot. I mean, it doesn't have any arms! How can you have rocket punching if you don't have any arms!?

 

Why couldn't the mech pic have been an animated gif? (echoed from the update page)

That said it would be nice if we had gotten how it worked mechanics wise too. I mean sure this looks cool.. but if it can't go into caves or takes a ton of fuel or energy.. well.. I'd love to read how it works before saying its gonna be awesome. (It looks very awesome at least)

After all if it is powerful... Past experiences with various cool things in multiplayer games, says it'll probably be gimped in someway for pvp reasons. (sadly)

on topic again, I wish to say this is a great development as it means great leaps and bounds.
Though I wish to know more about it.

 

I love it! Time to make little mech babies with it.

 

We have yet to see how vehicles will actually be implemented but given how they are handling monster creation, it would make sense that vehicles could also be built using a sectional idea. Then you could use the same legs with different torsos etc. This would simplify creation, allow possible customization, and increase variety as well. I'm looking forward to more details on vehicles as things progress...

 

...I could build my own robot? Maybe? Possibly?!

That'd make this probably my favorite game with robots since Armored Core.

I'd love to know what happens when you change direction in a vehicle, because for something that takes up a much larger portion of the screen, just having the image flip might look weird. If there's an actual rotation animation, that would be awesome.

I also want to see hoverbikes. I want to know if I'm going to need a bike a person, or be able to have two people sharing a bike.

 

I approve the improvements on this wonderful vehicle.

The original was fine, but it has improved greatly.

 

looks so much better than the original one in my opinion.
