  3. Raindrac

    Raindrac Existential Complex

Well, I have tons of news. A pile of it. News out the whazoo. Expect a long post coming up.

Subject 1: Solving the .clientcontext issue
I've found a pretty obvious file that I should have noticed by now... versions.config.
I'm going to quickly explain what this find means.

In the installation instructions for the mod, I instruct people to delete their \universe folder when they install the mod. This is because the .clientcontext files are stored in the \universe folder. Every character you create has their own separate .clientcontext files. .clientcontext files are used to store a player's location in the universe, the location of this home planet, and the sectors a player has unlocked and can unlock.

All of this causes issues when my mod installed and old .clientcontext files are used.

    This is because...
    1. Their location in the universe won't match up with the new layout. This can result in a players ship orbiting around nothing.
    2. The sector list stored in the .clientcontext files are outdated. This results in a crash when the sector list is loaded when either you open the star map or attempt to unlock a new sector.
So I've instructed users to just wipe the \universe folder. It's simpler then wiping each .clientcontext file in the \universe folder to prevent people having installation issues.

Well, versions.config allows me to wipe the .clientcontext files without having the user delete them themselves. That would really simplify the installation, just bringing it down to throwing the mod in the mods folder.
    Subject 2: Universe stability
Ah, the dreaded universe wipe... and the fix to it.

Here is a small update on the next Starbound er, update that Tiy recently tweeted. THAT FIRST PARAGRAPH. YES.
This is going to be some pretty darn good news. I'm no longer stuck not being able to add biomes without causing a visual wipe, or worse... a universe wipe.
Subject 3: WIP changelog for the next update
    =Biome Changes=
+ Added Cloudlands biome, replaces Geometric Forest biomes

+ Added rainbow rock, a new ore found in Rainbow Forests
//Comment: This change might cause incompatibilities with Industrialization since we both add ores. Sorry! I'll try my hardest to avoid that.
+ Added crystal ore to crystal-related biomes
//Comment: This change might cause incompatibilities with Industrialization since we both add ores. Sorry! I'll try my hardest to avoid that.
    - Nerfed cooked tentacles

    =Biome Bugfixes=
    | Fixed underground parallax bug in Snowy Icelands biomes
    | Fixed Toxic Jungles not generating
    | Fixed issue with Floating Islands and Asteroid Fields generating incorrectly in the Flatisector
//Comment: That same issue also caused a ton of errors in the log
    | Fixed misnamed horizon textures for the Sulphfuric Volcanic biome
Vanilla| Tentacles no longer make wood sounds
    Vanilla| Fixed tentacle biome parallax

Incoming excuse: I've noticed and I haven't bothered to fix it because it's so minor and it's a bug from vanilla. I'll include a fix for this in the next update though.
Just checked, and nope. It's very incompatible. It looks like a really good mod, though.
Eugh, what could be causing that error this time... Can you provide the starbound.log file, maybe?

Finally, here is a picture of the new rain and tentacle biome background that I've mentioned in the changelog.

    Nightcore50 Void-Bound Voyager

I've had a crashing issue and it's bugging me because I want to try this mod out. It crashes after the first loading screen of the game with a giant long error which doesn't make much sense to me.

I have both Wasteland Planets and Starscape versions downloaded from their specific pages on the mod forum with the patches as well, plus the version of your mod from the page as well so I believe I have all the right versions of the mods installed.

I put the error on Pastebin here

Can you make any sense of this, because I can't. If you need a list of what mods I have installed or anything tell me, I'm fairly sure I don't have any incompatible mods installed.

Thanks in advance for any help c:

  11. Raindrac

    Raindrac Existential Complex

That's.... a lot of errors. Most caused by Half Warps.
Anyway, try moving every other mod out of the mods folder(Don't move out mine, Starscape or Wastelands) and see if that works. No need to load a character.

  12. Nightcore50

    Nightcore50 Void-Bound Voyager

I'll try that, do you think it's possible that Half Warps is incompatible?

  13. Raindrac

    Raindrac Existential Complex

I'm not sure if Half Warps is incompatible. It might be fine, it's just causing a lot of errors.
It's too bad error logs don't actually say what file causes the crash in the first place.

  14. Nightcore50

    Nightcore50 Void-Bound Voyager

I tried it first with taking just half warps out, got a crash again saying something about a starbound slave or something like that, but I forgot to grab a copy of the error log. I took out the rest of my mods and it works fine without anything else added in apart from your mod, Starscape and Wasteland

I just tried it, adding in some extra mods, here's the pastebin error I got

So sorry if this has been answered already. I read the long post of Dracyoshi for the next patch and I saw that it has bug fixes for asteroids.

    Does that mean it's this?

  17. Raindrac

    Raindrac Existential Complex

I wasn't referring to that bug, but it will be fixed in the next patch too.

Anyway, here is yet another new mod while we wait on the next patch.

  18. Nightcore50

    Nightcore50 Void-Bound Voyager

..I might have thought of something.

In relation to the errors I'm having.. Would a mod that changes or increases ore distribution on planets cause any problems? (G4M5T3R's MoarOres mod for example)

  19. MoonOne

    MoonOne Big Damn Hero

a couple things that might help -

make a list of the mods your using and post
add in mods ONE AT A TIME after you have Variety et all and try to see what causes the crash

by looking at your logfile - it would appear that your getting crashes with
some mod that adds "nephilim" stuff
    something adding senketsu armor
adding cheat items - coalseed, moneyseed, cheatmatter
    cheat sword/ overpowered sword

with all those errors coming through - its tough to tell what is actually going on - Seems to me you'd want to get rid of a couple race mods and a cheat/item mod
it doesn't seem like a compatibility issue (not sure) but just an issue with too many mods with errors going on. Hope this helps you

  20. Licflagg

    Licflagg Phantasmal Quasar

here are more ideas: water worlds (like the deep ocean, but with no land on the surface and ice at the bottom (Gleasa 581c is an example of a water world)(the ice resembles ice7 in a water world and it's also nearly freezing at the bottom)), glass worlds (like the halo spartan home-world where the covenant fired a laser that made the whole planet's surface into glass), corrupted worlds (like the tentacle worlds, but without the tentacles), and metallic worlds (like the metal moons, but with atmospheres) hope these help out

i also realized that the PBR mod doesn't work because your mod adds liquids and so does this one (the PBR mod is OP as heck!)
