Yes they did, I implemented the fix you suggested both server-side, and teammadcuzimbad's client-side.
He can now connect successfully and go to his starter planet (Which was indeed a Desert :p)
Which also explains why I didn't crash. (because I spawned in a forest)

Thanks for all your help in resolving our compatibility issue!
I'm glad we can keep both mods installed now without issues ^^.

  3. BurningVanities

    BurningVanities Space Hobo

  4. Sethh

    Sethh Subatomic Cosmonaut

What i meant was, It seems to be crashing on a server without the mod installed. (Which is kind of strange because i would think it shouldn't be accessing the new sector at all)

Edit: Oh so since there are no old planets i wouldnt be able to go onto a vanilla server? with this mod installed?

Oh, I see. There probably isn't much that I can do about it then...
You could try creating a folder called "mods-disabled" outside of the mods folder and move it there when you want to play multiplayer on a server without this mod.
That's already in the mod incompatibility list. :p
Also, you can make it compatible by just not installing the gelatin. The gelatin is what causes the crash.
Darn, it isn't throwing any errors outdated of your outdated players from before the wipe. The only explanation is that the world somehow got corrupted, or something happened to the world file.
It might also be an internal bug... who knows.

Yo, Dracyoshi. Great job and all. I like how you have the compatibility thing with starscape, since it's always good when mods work together for those who just love to pile mods on or can't choose between the two. I was hunting around and I've seen metal moons and stuff so it's pretty good. Just one thing, would you be able to make the metallic wood craftable into more types of metals and not just the plated blocks but make the recipe only unlock when you know of the certain type of metal? so like the light metal from apex places, the smooth metal from human places, maybe even back panel metals and junk tech etc? Since it'd be great to be able to farm those metal logs to be able to build stuff out metals without spending a fortune in pixels to get them via the recipes you get in the porta-printer.

Since the game eventually gets to the point where you should build with metals or it just doesn't look right for the tech level, so just a thought, since they do only turn up in X anyway after all, so that locks them fairly well into the back of the tech tree at the point where you can go "balls to it" and just make everything. lol

Dracyoshi updated Variety is the spice of the Universe | A Universe & Biome Overhaul with a new update entry:

Release 2.2 | Fantasy vs Realism

If you have previously installed this mod...
Then there will be a "visual regeneration" of the universe when you update the mod.
Your planets will stay the same on the surface, stuff you've built will stay intact, etc... But they will appear as a different biome from space. So when you're in the GUI selecting a planet to fly to, your forest planet might appear as a desert planet. But even so, it'll still be a forest when you beam down to it.

If you have previously installed this mod with Starscape...
The above still applies, but the patch isn't ready quite yet.
If you plan to use this mod with Starscape, wait until the patch is ready!
...and we're out of beta and not releasing on time!

    New Biomes
    • The Umbra
    • Floating Islands - Unfinished
    • Lunar Volcanic Plains
    • Lunar Frozen Plains
    • Lunar Toxic Fields
    • Lunar Barren Rock
    Renamed Biomes
    • Moon > Lunar Barren Desert
    • Crystal Moon > Lunar Crystalline Forest
    • Metallic Moon > Lunar Metallic Forest
    Changes
Asteroid fields are now more common.
    Moons are more rare.
Balancing out the biome rarity a little.

    Changed biome scaling system.
No longer based off of arbitrary difficulty.
Instead, it's based off of how exotic the biome is.
More familiar planetary types like Desert, Forest, Volcanic and Swamplands are found early on...
..while exotic types like the Frostfire and Umbra are found in later tiers.

This allows players who want a challenge to get it, by just flying to a volcanic biome early on.

Deep Ocean and Arctic biomes are they only exception to this rule. They're pretty much unsurvivable early on.

Planets which require an oxygen source now warn you.

    Colorful deserts are temporarily re-enabled.

They will be replaced by another biome later on. It's basically a placeholder.
Geometric snow biomes might get replaced too if I get a replacement idea.

Rainbow Woods, Geometric Snow, Snowy Icelands and Tarball biomes now have microbiome chests.
Barren biomes were changed yet again.
    They now have an atmosphere.

Dungeonless biomes no longer have exotic underground layers.
Mainly important for living biomes and moons.

Red sand can be smelted into glass.
...and other misc changes that I may have forgotten.
...and promised to be slightly stable! For once, I did some actual testing before release.
Though with over 50 biomes now, there is a chance a bug still got past.

By the way. I'm in need of some custom graphics for the parallax/background of the Floating Islands biome, and some graphics for the horizon view(what it looks like in orbit) too.
Basically, I need a lot of small floating islands that can be fit into the background. Same for the horizon view from space.

The idea behind the Floating Islands biome is a small planet surrounded by tons of small, floating islands.

Ok, I can't get seem to get the durasteel upgrade to work. It keeps closing the game on me. However, the X-Sector upgrade works though. I tried to fix it, but nothing seems to work. I am using it with the Starscape mod, so if it's a problem with the patch, I'll try re-downloading both. I've included my log.

    Just checking two simple things...

    1) Did you wipe/delete the\ universe folder after installing both mods and then the patch?
    and...
    2) Are you using the latest update of the mod, 2.2? If so, the patch is outdated and won't work. You need 2.1.2.7.

Quick question: Is VitsotU compatible with Exploration Enhanced? I don't see any reports of incompatibility in neither your nor Desideratus's posts or discussions, but I don't want to do anything potentially dangerous to my universe generation...

    They're incompatible.

Will there be a patch from either one of you?

It's not planned, as it'd be extremely hard to pull off. The difference between it's system and mine is just too drastic.

Sweet updates drac, alot of changes and the new wip biomes seems really interesting!

The exploration modpack uses kals newhorizion biomes as a base, i could try to se if i can get it to work later today but oits a lot of work after how the devs changed the biomes etc

    Trilynne Big Damn Hero

Darn indeed. :/ I'll mess around with it a bit, see if I can find a fix... I'll try treating her like an old character, wipe the universe info like you said in the install guide, try making a new character, etc.

ETA: Okay, figured it out: for whatever reason, my spawn planet is NOT set automatically as my home. However, if I do set a planet manually to be home, I can successfully warp to it from the orbit of another planet. My poor little Hylotl's home base is forever lost amongst the vastness of the stars(and possibly deleted with the new patch or my universe folder wipe). But we shall build anew from the ashes! :p

When do you think the compatibility patch between VarietyBiomes 2.2 and Starscape will come out ?

I don't know if I'd be able to do this. However, an idea/suggestion:

    The view from orbit:
If you replace the floating, transparent clouds for a world with graphics for floating islands, would that work?
In my mind, that would look just about right.

    On another subject:

It seems like you missed my earlier post:

    Other than that:

Have you considered adding a biome something like Tech Planets or Mechanical Planets Mod?
It's such an appealing idea to have planets made of metal plates and junk or where high tech labs and such are commonplace.
