This is happening to me as well. : (

  2. Raindrac

They will need the mod, or else they'll crash.
I have no clue. Someone with a server should test this.
Huh, that's a Starscape sector. Did you wipe your \universe folder after you've installed Starscape and the patch? Starscape also requires a wipe of the \universe folder to use existing characters.

  3. misterducky

    misterducky Scruffy Nerf-Herder

Actually, I could connect without the mod, and I didn't crash. But I also couldn't find any of the new biomes, so I guess it's a wash.

  4. Raindrac

    Raindrac Existential Complex

erhm, what? That's strange. How could the universe of the client be different then that of the server?
I really should set up a test server for this stuff. Then I could get a better understanding of it.

What happened to me was, when I was in my ship, I wouldn't see a planet below me when I joined for the first time. The planet had no name, just - -, and when I tried to move to different planets, I couldn't beam down. But I could navigate just fine without crashing.

Yeah I've noticed when i have tried to revisit the coords that the star isn't there with the planets around it. I will try to get the infinate warp bug again but how do i find what part of the log to send ya?

    will send privately

Is there any way to build a config file for this mod?

Say something that lets us set the percentage of moons, ore, or other specialties?

That would go a huge way in making the server universe unique compared to others.

  9. Gantros

    Gantros Pangalactic Porcupine

Maybe I've missed something but I have yet to encounter any fuel above coal and I've gotten to Gamma sector already

  10. Requiemfang

    Requiemfang Ketchup Robot

    I've noticed this as well.

  11. Raindrac

    Raindrac Existential Complex

There are four biomes that I want to implement. Implementing those would cause a visual regeneration of the universe.

Here is what I mean by visual regeneration: All visited worlds would stay the same, but they'd appear another as biome from space.
For example, lets say you live on a desert planet. Then you update my mod. Your planet will stay a desert planet when you beam down to it with all your stuff, but when you're looking at the planet from space it might look like a volcanic planet.

This would have no effect on gameplay, but it'd confuse players who are updating my mod. Do I force the blow?
On the bright side, unless Chucklefish does something then this would be the absolute last universe related change.

Also, be careful if you're building in Sector X in vanilla. If X is the last sector and\ will have every biome, then if they add a new biome to a sector before it... Well, there will a visual regeneration since they'll have to add that biome to X too.
That log seems normal enough, there aren't really any errors that I can find in there. Logs are of the previous gameplay session, so did you reproduce the bug in that session so it could error?
Also, check if you have the latest version 2.1.7 of my mod. The biomes you're having issues with were broken in a recent hotfix of Starbound, and gave that exact issue.
Really? I don't touch ore generation at all. What biomes is this happening in?

  12. Thundercraft

    Thundercraft Phantasmal Quasar

    Dracyoshi,

The "Known Mod (In)Compatibility List" you have in the description is very informative and useful. But it's a shame that there are so many biome-changing mods out there that have become obsolete as the modders failed to complete them or update them.

Have you considered contacting a few of these mod developers with the idea/suggestion of incorporating them into VITSU? I'd be particularly interested in seeing Toxic Worlds and/or Mechanical Planets Mod incorporated.

More biomes are a good thing, IMO. If it were up to me, I'd say go for it.

  14. iraham

    iraham Scruffy Nerf-Herder

I say go for the new biomes.

I'm running my server on the broken update that doesn't have oceans, so adding something in when I update this mod would be a nice plus.

  15. Requiemfang

    Requiemfang Ketchup Robot

I know why and the cause of it. I'm not sure if the other person is using it or not but Industrialization changes the ore generation quite a bit. Just from looking at the ore generation configuration in notepad++ which can be modified if one so chooses. You won't start seeing Uranium or any of the higher tier fuels until you reach thread lvl 4 and up on planets.

  16. Gantros

    Gantros Pangalactic Porcupine

    well that explains it

  17. Zizzy

    Zizzy Void-Bound Voyager

going to update this and say colonies also doesn't work right with the mod :(

  18. Faythe

    Faythe Pangalactic Porcupine

Yes I did make sure that I replicated the bug on the server, and i had both my computer and my fiance (who runs the server) update the mod to 2.1.7. no clue what is causing this then. I can send ya a new log, just had him close the server, load starbound then reopen the server. he does have 2.1.7. Like I said I have a fresh log where I had to exit the game cause of the infinate warp. Also on a side note, I have noticed a surprising lack of tech chests, even in buildings i know would usually have them.

Okay this seems odd. i know he has the mod installed, I have the mod installed, he loaded up a character to make sure it is fully installed. And yet, I was able to go to the planet in question in single player but not in multiplayer.

Still getting the neverending-travel-bug when going to a magma planet. Can be easily replicated, since no magma planet works.

Oh, and I know that you're working on beefing up the existing biomes... Would it be possible to include stuff like human villages? As far as I know, those are missing in vanilla, so it might be too much work...

Edit: Also, due to the huge amount of additional planet types.. would it be possible to add another sector (the Z sector, so to speak) filled only with threat level 10 planets? Its becoming a little bit exhausting when searching for a certain planet type :D

Hm, perhaps the server itself doesn't have 2.1.7? Do servers even have log files? It might not be in the your log file because it's a server-side bug.
Try redownloading the mod and seeing if Magma planets work. In the first hour or so of having the update up, I forgot a file for Magma biomes. If you do that and the bug still happens, I'll need the Starbound log.
As for the Z sector, I don't know if theres even enough space for a new sector in the GUI if you have Starscape also installed. Good idea, though.
