The moon is really gross, I like how you did the tentacles. You need some practice on the fire though :)

  12. What program do you use? I noticed the shiny areas of some of your art aren't as "shiny". Changing the blending modes of the layers would greatly help in emphasizing those areas, as well as adding an ambient mood to the surrounding. For example, you can create a new layer above the background layer, and fill it with a light blueviolet color, then set it to Multiply. That would make the background appear darker in the night. Setting the glow on the light areas to Luminosity or Color/Linear Dodge or Screen would make it appear bright.

Also, If I were you, I would avoid using an airbrush-esque tool for clouds in the distance. Honestly, it is better to create them and then blur them, as it maintains their form. That's up to you though, since it's your drawing.
    Goodluck with the arts!

I'm using photoshop. Thanks for the tips with the layer blending, I'll keep that in mind in the future. As for the clouds, I think I did use blur (Gaussian Blur), though I may have blurred them just a bit too much. I can't remember exactly what I did for those, since it's been a while since I drew that.
