I just wanted to show my USS Intrepid (Voyager) Ship I made from Star Trek. I spent way too long doing this and thought others would appreciate it. I was so disappointed that no one had released a star trek ship mod yet. I'll release it if someone can walk me through how to do it. I used the FCSMod to do it. Major props for that and devs... this should be part of the vanilla game for sure. I was able to include the bridge, turbolift, ready room, conference room, astrometrics, crew/officer/captain's quarters, mess hall, transporter room, sick bay, 2 cargo holds, the shuttlebay, Hydroponics bay, main engineering, the brig, and 2 holodecks. It's not a 1:1 replica (duh) and the furniture and materials I used to make it are not final. If I can find better looking materials I will switch them out. I had so much space I decided to use hallways that 'fall' into rooms on some decks so I wouldn't have to make tons of small rooms with random themes. I also didn't think it made sense to have all of the rooms connected to each other.
Thanks! I just learned how to paint so I went around and cleaned up the rooms. I was able to add the lightbar in the rooms and hallway that would change to red on red alert and give the rooms little color based on how I remembered them in the show. It's still not accurate but I like it. Also made the turbolift completely black to further differentiate it. I think it turned out well and dropping from the bridge to the engineering deck is a ton of fun. Bridge, Ready Room, Conference Room Astrometrics, Mess hall, Transporter Room Main Engineering, Hydroponics Bay Sick Bay, Crew and Officer Quarters, Holodecks Captains Quarters, Holodecks, Cargo Bay Brig, Cargo Bay, Shuttle Bay I'm going to try to see if my shipboard file will be usable on a new character. If so I'll post this as a mod in the mod section for everyone.
Very impressive. And where do you find that uniform? A small helping hand to make your background doors look closer to those shown on Voyager: Pressurised Steel for the doors themselves. (For example: (Minus beams/handles) http://cloud-3.steampowered.com/ugc/613915841091999727/A5BFB45A018AA333DB7FBCE97BDF9B8C34161167/ ) And to help you with the 'blank corridor' problem you described, you could consider the possibility of using a mix of wall panels and support beams to mirror the Interpid's corridor stylings. Lastly, and this is just me showing my colours as a picky Trek flavoured git, but the Mess Hall on Intrepid class ships is situated at the front of deck 2.
That looks great thanks! My character is only level 2 or 3 so I don't have any pressurized steel yet. But I will. many Apex and USCM people died to give me mats for this. When I make the ship again for live I intend to make it larger and more accurate if possible. I'm looking into a wiring a red alert system now. If I can find or make (Mod) a panel that lights up red then I could actually make those panels run along the hallways and work with a switch. That would be AWESOME. It's my goal eventually. The replicators come from this mod along with phasers and other goodies: http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?resources/startrekbound.1449/ Uniforms: http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?resources/star-trek-tng-uniform.84/
Best place for pressurised steel is the pyramid labs, likewise for wall panels and support bars. Also, until you can mod the red alert bars, I find a single line of flesh block works intriguingly well.
I'm totally redoing the ship. Stay tuned and check out the startrekbound mod, it's amazing. Tons of trek stuff. Here's a sneak peek of the new design. It will have all 15 decks. Each deck will have two levels that allow you to 'drop' into a room like you went through the door. I will also be making the hallways much much improved once I get the whole ship fleshed out.
Ok, I'm not sure if this'd work, but this is an idea I just had. What if you could craft a Tech similar to that in Planetside Teleporters, that allows you to use (E) Door objects. This would teleport you to a twin/clone/alternate ship where the same relative location is within the room. In other words, instead of dropping through the ground as a workaround, you'd go from Ship A (x,y location) to Ship B (x,y location), and vice versa. Ship B portraying all the inner rooms. You'd also need to remove any "teleporting" effects and change the sfx to swishing doors or something. And maybe animate the Door objects. I'm not sure, but i think only a Tech would allow this kind of action...
That's a pretty awesome suggestion. I have no background in modding though to do anything close to that.
Here's the completed shape of my new work. Now it's time to actually fix the corridors and rooms. It's a huge ship but I imagine this would be what it would be like to have a real intrepid. The dimensions aren't going to be perfect because of the added height but I believe I've got the shape down.
I looked into this and it's an AWESOME suggestion. I'm going to see if someone can help me make it. If so what I'd do is make a to scale version of the voyager. The main ship would have corridors and and the secondary ship would have the rooms that meet up to them. Right now the ship is long enough that if you stand at the deck 11 rear observation lounge the map wraps around (like a planet) and you can see the nose of the ship. This is due to the fact that I had to elongate the ship to keep the general voyager look since I increased the height by 30 meters with the added second level on each decks. If I made it to scale I'd easily be able to fit two voyager models on top of each other in the building area. as height isn't an issue. You'd transport between them on clicking a door. No promises I can get someone to do this but if anyone want to take a shot at it be my guest
What Wall Panels did you used for all those rooms? And how do you make those doors (and also where can I get those consoles next to the door?)? This would perfectly fit into my spacestation! Great work!
The replicators, doors, control panels, and the redish panels come from this mod along with phasers and other goodies: http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?resources/startrekbound.1449/ Uniforms: http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?resources/star-trek-tng-uniform.84/ The grey wall is neon block. It looks good is versatile and paintable. I'm using the creation mode mod to generate huge stacks of blocks and place blocks where I want them. I intend to release the shipboard file when it's complete so everyone can enjoy it. I'm also trying to the teleport thing since I think the ship is going to be EXTREMELY laggy even on the most robust systems such as mine. This is an example of the total size currently and I hope to be able to make it 40% smaller and to scale if I can figure out the teleporting doors. Right now it lags like hell in the middle of the ship due to the amount of objects rendered.
Well I did it. I got the transporter with doors to work. I'm going to scrap my current build and get to work on one with single decks that is more accurate.
I decided to table the Intrepid class for now until they actually optimize the game. It's too large for it to be lag free. I started a new project with a to scale ship. It's a WIP but full marks if you can guess the class. 4 Decks completed 4 more to go.
