Usable skills and possibly castable spells

    I'd like to see a pseudo skill system, with each category of gear offering a limited range of abilities only operated on a cooldown system. Mouse3 or any other button could be limited to only skill use, and you can only change your active skill (Whether it be one, or multiple) at any equipment station or on your ship. One example is hamstrings on swords, to reduce enemy movement speed. For ranged weaponry we have covering fire on larger automatic weapons, which would completely cease movement on a creature of equal or smaller size, and partially slow larger ones.

    This also opens up the possibility for utility skills, like jetpack boost for speed, slow fall on hooked boots, and temporary device powering on equippable battery packs. Heck this even opens up support avenues for people who don't want to use a weapon slot for it, the aforementioned battery packs could restore other players battery/mana/energy. All of the skills available in my examples are offered exclusively by gear, as I'd like to shy away from personal player advancement in any imbalancing way.

    This is a good idea I was going to suggest an enchantment but I remembered that this game is futuristic and spacey. I would like their to be a machine that you have to put certain materials or money into that would then intern give your weapon/ equipment the abilities.
