my only problem is the release dates. "we will release the update this weekend" -its Tuesday- "we will release it next weekend!' -its the next monday. if you dont know dont get us excited

  2. That's why there will be no more set dates... for anything, at all.

It's like they say, you can't please everyone. I think OP and his kind of people are veeeery silly.

Well, some people just can't handle costructive criticism ;)

EDIT: Let me put this straight:

this thread is about upgrades policy. If it's correct to make few big updates or not. If it's the only way or not. If it would be better to make smaller, more frequent ones (and wipe between stage 1 and stage 2, i.e.) or not. If you like it this way or not. If you think information is a bit lacking or not.

Every response that, instead of answering about the update policy, defends the devs from accusations i didn't move, is totally missing the point of this thread.

That being say, continue. I'd like some practical examples (from people who know more than me about this subject) of why there's nothing addable untill these major (and very welome) changes are complete.

Just because I think you're silly doesn't mean I don't understand your post. I read it and I simply think you and your kind of people are being entitled and silly, that's all.

In other words, I don't agree with your views.

Speaking of which - when are they releasing the next patch.
    Would be funny
"Here is the valentines day patch"
    1 hour later.
Ok valentines day ended last week. We are removing valentines goodies.

  7. It will be exactly like that (except that they will not remove the valentines goodies that fast).
Just like it was with the christmas stuff, late up, late gone.
    Yeeep.

That's reasonable and right thing to do. Yeah, ppl still gonna complain, but well, some ppl (like myself) always complain no matter what. But before it happens i'd love to read a thoughtful explanation how beta really gonna work from now on.

Today is everyday that the day becomes.
Hence an infinite number of days from today until the contraction of the universe and the eventual reawakening of the next big bang.
I really hope we have psychokinetic powers in the next coming of the human race.

well that just means more work for me. lol

was simple to add the christmas stuff back in, well a craftable way, as that is what my personal mod is about. Still a long time yet before I am finished with the default stuffs...><

But when the time comes I'll probably do what I did with the christmas stuff, just making a craftable way to get said stuff. Keeping it separate from the main part, in case i want to share the mod in the future; that way people could have a choice to have or not. :D

About the OP, I kind of agree with @SweFox that it is a bit silly thinking. But that is me, and I disagree just as well. As things seem to be just setting up for this quicker pace. so until we actually see them finally settled and giving updates again quickly, no one will know. Just my perspective, as to me whether it is weekly/monthly, it really doesn't matter to me, as long as there is progress; whether that is under the hood or content...

It's high hopes, but I hope that each holiday that's added isn't just old stuff with a new skin. Take WoW holiday events for example. They're completely different from one another.

I'd be fine with some B.S. quotes on the daily, too.

Tiy-Today 08:49 am-: I've unleashed some hell-hounds into the new offices today, letting them raise some legs and claim some spots before I let the team in. Cha-chi (as I lovingly named the littlest one) has decided to make a home under a coder's desk. I've deprived the hounds of food this morning and figure they could "light a fire" under the collective arses, so to speak. We'll see who's still around by lunch and who's got that ship upgrade implemented into the game 6 months ahead of schedule.

Take a look at Pillars of Eternity: that's a good way of administering a site (i know, very different case, very different gamestyle, very different developers and all).

In my opinion, you can follow two roads, with a website like this

    1) Serious updates and language - you keep a distance with your followers, and convey a sense of professionality. Your silence can be tolerated, but fans are less engaged

    2) Chucklefish's style - language is plain and direct, easy and emotional, somehow vibrant. Jokes scattered through the posts. You behave a bit like a homie, and deeply link emotionally with your fans. Your silence is badly tolerated, fans are really engaged.

For what that i can see, Chucklefish is transitioning from type 2 to type 1. The posts, in the last months, have gone a lot colder (but maybe it's just me)

i'll give you an analogy. it's like designing and building the innards of a wind-up clock at the same time.

but yea, the whole "chinese box" thing is kind of the point of object oriented programming, which is pretty much the norm now.

it is less that everything relies on broken mechanics, and more "everything is a placeholder".

While i am all for plenty of updates i still feel that daily updates is unnecessary. surely weekly updates insure plenty of content on each update as well as time to work out the kinks and whatnot before said updates are released, we waited two years for the alpha i am sure we can wait for an update every week or perhaps longer still. because let's be honest here i am more concerned that the devs cannot handle the extra workload of daily updates, of course that being said we still don't know what these daily updates will consist of so hopefully things will work out for everyone.

This is far from an excuse. If anything it's just more evidence they weren't ready for early access at all, but I guess they needed someone to foot the bill for those offices that they're using to excuse the lack of actual work being done on the game. Not that the whole team will even be using them.

Which isn't the solution anyone was actually looking for. What we were looking for was "Just don't give us a date until you have a clue what you're talking about." Though I guess if they never do, they're doing it right now. This new philosophy of theirs actually exemplifies everything wrong with Chucklefish as a company, in my mind. They can't handle criticism at all. Rather than responding to it they'd rather just say "Well we just won't do that at all, anymore!"

I feel like this forum has a worse community than LoL and DotA 2 put together, everyone needs to not be an ass to each other when you discuss things. It isn't needed.

If we had a contest via proof, LoL and Dota2 (particularly the former) would blow you out of the water.
