Upcoming Features You're Most Excited About

What are the announced features you can't wait to get released next? For me:

    1. More/better mod support - just to save us some headaches with each version update, this is my number 1.

    2. Terraforming (that would be the "Macro Terrain Changes") - I'm so hyped for being able to terraform planets I just can't stand it! Basically moving biomes from one related planet/terrain type to another. The saplings got me incredibly excited this update.

    3. More Planet Scanner Data/mini-map - Dear god yes! Right now everything is blind luck. I also want to ability to add notes to planets that I can see as well. Possibly even keep a list of preferred coordinates when I run into a good world.

    4. Changing spawn points. This would be convenient.

    5. Monster Generation - I secretly harbor the desire to build a zoo and genetically engineer monsters as pets. Actually, I really want pets to be more useful and customizable. Also the zoo. Zoos are cool.

    6. Ship size upgrades - You can't have too much room on the ship. Really you can't.

    Silverforte Spaceman Spiff

Better admin tools. World modification like Creativemode. Director Mode. Dungeon protection item.

I know this isn't a planned feature, but I'm very much looking forward to a town management mod like Towny.

Definitely ship upgrades and changing spawn points. Also liking the idea of planet-sized spaceship dungeons. Taa II, anybody?

    Stormsson Astral Cartographer

Absolutely spawn points and ship upgrade!

  5. Brannoncyll

    Brannoncyll Subatomic Cosmonaut

Stargates built between worlds I have visited. Teleporting to my home planet is ok as an interim solution but I really like the idea of claiming and building over multiple worlds.

  6. theexero

    theexero Void-Bound Voyager

Mainly looking forward to better admin control for servers planet protection and ship protection once that gets fixed multiplayer will be so much more fun. Sucks build a huge custom dungeon and try to have a server event then some griefers ruins it because he simply can and you can't protect yourself from it.

  7. Gunslinger

    Gunslinger Existential Complex

1.) Sidequests - especially if they span over multiple planets, involve space travel (by which I mean space travel with incidents) and feature interesting and unique NPCs and rewards.
    2.) Mechanics that encourage co-op.
3.) Space stations or artificial structures in space.
    4.) Space combat. (though post-release)

  8. Dactylos

    Dactylos Subatomic Cosmonaut

Fossils and Mechs. I have no idea what they plan to use fossils for, but I love fossils.

And Mechs... do I even have to say anything?

Right now, I'm taking a break and hoping mapping is added soon, both planet based and star chart based. My main interest is exploring new worlds, and its frustrating that there is no way in game to keep track of that.

  10. Aledroid

    Aledroid Scruffy Nerf-Herder

    I am waiting ocean biome to start experimenting with underwater build/water flow system;
secondary mission/objectives that encourage building, colonizing and exploring world without the linear progression..

PS: anybody now if there will be pvp?

  11. ejh1990

    ejh1990 Phantasmal Quasar

Space combat for sure. If it gets implemented, of course. Very interested to see how it would work. Macro terrain changes, terraforming, and planet modification are also quite cool concepts; it would be fun for both builders to make the planet of their dreams, or for twisted people who want to just wreck a planet completely by making it as inhospitable as possible. :p

  12. Attack_Fish

    Attack_Fish Phantasmal Quasar

I can't explain it anything better than just saying fun things! During beta, the fun I get from Starbound is finding recipes and crafting armor. Once the full game is out, I'd like to see more things to waste my time!
I guess I would most like to see a way to show my friends what I've found or made easily.

  13. Traijan

    Traijan Cosmic Narwhal

Ship size updates would be the most looked forward to for me as that adds a feeling of improving my character.

  14. Kira7

    Kira7 Scruffy Nerf-Herder

Actual reconfigurable keybindings would be the only thing that i am looking forward to.

  15. Fiben Bolger

    Fiben Bolger Pangalactic Porcupine

Reconfigurable key bindings? Then I'd lose that .5 second thrill of thinking I got a weird mob drop when actually all I did was toss out a piece of my own inventory during some frantic button mashing.

Let me keep my modded ship or make it a game feature. I want, not a Death Star, but maybe a Mildly Unpleasant Space Moon Platform Habitat Generational Vessel that even I need a map to to navigate through it.

  16. Ludovic

    Ludovic Giant Laser Beams

Space combat is something I've very eager for.

This said, I'd like to hear back from the devs regarding their old plans where "claiming" an Homeworld was implied to be a great undertaking of the game, as it was implied back then we would be able to literally colonizes them with "NPCs rescued or recruited from across the universe, each of them with unique skills and features of their own they could contribute to your ship or colonies' facilities".

Now that(at least for now) NPCs are more or less deployed from nothing else than found or crafted "spawners"(a crafted/found object like so many others already...) I cannot help but be worried about all the great plans they originally had told us about NPC management, which at times felt like it veered close to a very ambitious XCOM or Dwarf Fortress lite.... something I was very eager for :(

    Changing spawn points, definitely.

  18. Gunslinger

    Gunslinger Existential Complex

    Very, very much this.

  19. DeltaV

    DeltaV Pangalactic Porcupine

Space comabt/space dungeons, planet spawnpoint changing, terraforming, et cetera, et cetera.

  20. bce5150

    bce5150 Master Chief

While I do love new and cool features, I really want to see a LOT of tiers upon release...

It would be great to see some levels in between stone pick axes and lazer beam guns... like some industrial age smoke stacks and modern age assault rifles and stuff

Some low-mid tiers and high-mid tiers would really add depth and substance to the game, as well as a sense of accomplishment and "end game" feel once you're decked out in space age stuff
