They are dumbing down the game for quite a while. I still can't believe a so called sandbox title has huge marks for quests, i.e. WoW-like. Where's the exploration and discovery? The huge yellow mark tells you "come here little one, we know you are too lazy to talk to us, we don't have anything to say unless we have this mark above our heads". Inventory fills too fast now with one kind of stuff while there is a lot of free space in other containers. This new system is terrible. There are also performance issues on Linux, which I never had before (hardware is definitely not the bottleneck, something is now broken within the code) In short, awesome update and direction the game's heading! ;-)
@M_Sipher Yes you will be able to see the new generation. However it has to be on new discovered world, ones that you have not been to before. that is the impression I got from the OP. Otherwise why would they have said it was not necessary. I believe though that it is to experience from the beginning better, and why they suggest resetting.
>complains about game holding your hand, game treating gamers as being lazy >complains about having to manage inventory Anyway, I'll be checking out the update tonight. I'm concerned about the performance concerns mentioned, but I'll have to suffer through it to see how intuitive the changes are.
I would kill to have inventory space upgrades, and maybe a quick-sort system like what was recently added to Terraria (Click one button, and everything that matches the contents of surrounding chests gets deposited appropriately) Some people would rather adventure than deal with a clogged inventory, which is why I always get stuck back at base with farming and sorting out all the junk my buddies shove into the 'drop-off' chests.
What's with the completely random and arbitrary restrictions on 3D printing? A lot of objects, many of which are parts of sets, cannot be scanned for 3D printing, while other objects in the set can be. The Outdoor light from Frögg can be scanned, the others can't. Outdoor table can be scanned, Outdorr Chair can't. I somewhat get why 3D printing would be restricted for the special items, even though I do disagree with it and find it extremely stifling to creativity (I mean, if I wanna print myself 100 seashell chairs because I need that shit NOW to finish my meticulously planned building, I should be able to do it NOW if I have the pixels), however, this game having such an enormous amount of different items, many of which are rare simply because of how many different types there are, this just completely ruins creative builds, because you'll essentially have to stick to basic blocks and furniture if you wanna go big in any way, shape or form. It just ruins creativity, to be honest. If you want players to be able to properly work with all these different fantastic furniture pieces, at least use the logical and functional system you have for it instead of sending them around the universe for hours, days and months just because they need one more specific chair they, for some arbitrary reason, are not allowed to print.
Most of the damage is offloaded to your armor. So if you have a cool-looking sword from early-game, and keep it 'till endgame, it'll still be viable. Your armor puts a multiplier on the damage you output. The 30 damage is just a base rate. (So if you're totally naked, that's the damage it deals.) [DOUBLEPOST=1439913026][/DOUBLEPOST] This bug has been reported, many times. I can probably make a mod, if you like. However, it would take a little while.
I've got another bug: Sometimes, while I explore the planet, the terrain suddenly vanishes (You only see the UI, the character and the background) and I am back on my ship (No teleportation animation)
The updates look really nice so far. I look forward to the stable patch. However, I have two concerns: 1) One of the inventory updates causes players to no longer collect items if the respective tabs for these items are open. At the moment, I generally keep all of my ores in my terrain tab in order to keep an eye on my loot, which leaves roughly ten spaces for terrain. After my terrain tab is full, I would personally like to continue collecting the terrain. I recommend that options be introduced for picking items up into tabs. 2) New players will appear on random worlds instead of a single shared world. While this allows new players in multiplayer servers to play the game normally without interference from others, this may also cause problems for servers with central planets. Have you considered automatically adding warp points for new players that lead to a central planet should one exist?
If you used my asset fix for Nightly, uninstall it.[DOUBLEPOST=1439917817][/DOUBLEPOST] This is because the new inventory system acts like four separate, filtered containers. Three are for the inventory, and one is for the hotbar. (Which no longer picks anything up.) While we have received 50% more space, the new system that allows for autosorting has brought the issue that inventory fills in thirds now.
I just started unstable yesterday to see what it had to offer, so can someone PLEASE tell my how to wipe myself.
Hmm. Normally, when I encounter this, it means I don't have the assets to load certain things. Try deleting 'Starbound - Unstable's local content and re-downloading it?
Most of this sounds good, although I don't like the thing about watering dirt, especially between every single life stage of every single plant. You'd be going back to water constantly since they all have different growth rates and apparently just flooding the area doesn't work. Also, why increase the number of dungeons per planet? There were already too many.
While I tend to agree in some respects, I believe the colonization system is what's taking a LONG time to implement this go around. Hopefully after this major update we can get to monthly or even weekly updates.
