Unresponsive distress beacon?

I've crafted the distress beacon in two separate game files - in the first game, I was instantly taken out and the beacon was destroyed. Undeterred, I recrafted and redeployed it (albeit with better armour and weapons). Unexpectedly, the UFO did not return. Figuring this to be a game glitch, I started a new character and rebuilt the beacon. I've deployed the beacon several times now, and nothing has happened. I looked at my quest journal and I have no "in progress" quests and the quest "first contact" is considered complete. Is anyone else experiencing this sort of problem? Thanks for your responses!

Thanks, so long as I'm not the only one haha. I'm not sure what to do...a few of my friends have this game as well and they do not experience the problem.

I had an unresponsive decoy princess once, and since those cost a lot to make, it really really sucksss
but my guess is that you could try fully, 100%, closing the game, and starting it back up, or maybe going to another planet? I recommend the 2nd, since the planet you may of first started it on may still registered as "Boss has already been spawned"

 

Interesting but I wonder if you will have the problem with the next patch.

You can spawn it more than once. At the same time, even.

 

You gotta activate the beacon. Middle mouse click or E key i believe.

 

So, if my distress beacon is destroyed, or I somehow destroyed it, I've got to get all those ores again to craft into more metal bars to create a new beacon?
I really would have thought that the boss would be there until he gets destroyed once called the first time.
