I'm currently in the middle of working on a large-scale castle, which takes up many screens and has many wiring functions, decorations, and lights in it. Of course, this would naturally take up some VRAM, but considering the specs of my computer, I don't believe for a moment that my computer should be unable to handle this many objects on my screen. I've played full 3D games with more rendered objects than this and had more than three times the framerate.

I'd blame it on an inefficiency within the rendering code. I've tried playing both regular Starbound and OpenGL, and can confirm that it has to do with the amount of player-placed objects, as when I go into a part of my castle that has more decorations and object density, I have a much lower framerate than in another part of the same planet. In addition, world-generated buildings, such as Glitch castles, do not cause any lag, despite having almost as much object density.

Bug / Issue: Lag due to inefficient rendering of player-placed objects
Attempted Fixes: Switching to OpenGL mode, closing all other programs, turning off / disabling my side monitors, switching the zoom level to 2x (unplayable due to lag), and 4x (less lag, but so zoomed that it is unplayable).
    Computer Specs:
    OS: Windows 7 64-bit
GPU: nVidia GeForce GTX 760 (4GB VRAM)
    RAM: 12GB
    CPU: Intel i7, 8 CPUs

The game is currently not optimized, nor will it be for some time. Currently it's "normal" for the game to be resource intensive right now, things should improve once the developers get everything else finished and turn their attention to optimization. For now, reducing the amount of objects per area and reducing light effects per area should help.

Closing as this topic already has multiple threads and the answer is still the same (see above).
