I think this needs to be corrected because its not very realistic seeing that gold extremely malleable yet its used for armor and tools, same with silver and platinum. it should be more like copper > bronze > iron > steel > titanium. instead of copper > silver > gold > platinum > diamond. i have seen countless games like terraria make this mistake and Starbound should not be one of them as i feel it has lots of potential for a good game.

I agree. Gold and platinum are softer than iron and steel and they can't be use in the tools crafting. It's unlogical. The line "copper > bronze > iron > steel > titanium" is more logical and corresponds to reality. Also the diamond ore is not realistic. There are no diamond ore in the nature, diamonds are located in the special rocks, named kimberlite in the kimberlite tubes (like kimberlite tube "Mir" in eastern Siberia).

Its not that it isn't true and all but gold tends to be sunk in everyone's mind as more valuable making it very easy to use as just a generic "better" instead of relying on real world physics.

I personally would use this system up until Steel, and then have things above that used to upgrade the Matter Manipulator. It seems tragically underused for such a cool item, so it would be nice to have it to replace the higher tiers for at least the pickaxe. As for armor, I would rather it follow this system than the current one.
